Them two just sitting in front of the wood stove, in a cabin in the middle of nowhere just talking with their feet up is wholesome af. I need that in my life so bad

Then just do it! It's super easy! (Well not really but easier than I thought, it's not some impossible dream) I left Chicago and moved to viroqua wisconsin and built my own cabin after watching these videos all I needed was a car felling tools and I bought a 0.02 acre for 500 dollars and did it in 30 days, I let my phone bill die out and lived during covid up here, I since then have returned to normal life after 2 years but. If you want it you can do it

@@kling12 .02 acres? Is that a typo? We're talking 870 square feet of land. That's hardly enough room to build a cabin or feel private.

Probably the best Ryan’s kzbin.infoUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.

Hey Kyle and Cierra, my wife and I live outside of Chicago but own acreage in northwest Wisconsin. I built an 8’x8’ deer cabin for hunting but hopefully start building a cabin to stay in on weekends. I’m in commercial millwork but have been a carpenter my entire career. You guys are doing right. Simplistic living in a serene area. Continue to post videos and we will watch them. Merry Christmas 🎄🥗🎁

Hey, Kyle and Cierra! This is the first time I've been on your channel that I can remember. I watch a lot of these kinds of shows, probably because I can't do them myself. So I live it through people like y'all. Where we live we don't get that much snow, unless it's a really, really bad year! But we live here year round. Our heat source is a wood stove too. My husband cuts a lot of wood yearly. Fortunately our landlord has a lot of land so we get free wood. My husband is the caretaker here. Our landlord is trying to get a solar system set up for both houses, but didn't get it finished for this winter. Hopefully get it finished this spring. He doesn't actually live here though, just visits for a weekend every couple months, except from the end of November to the start of March when he goes to his winter home in a year-round summer country. Our nearest neighbors are 2 miles away, down the mountain, and 4 miles away, up the mountain. Closest grocery store is a 45 minutes drive one-way from our house. I hope Cierra didn't do any damage to her leg walking that far in the snow. Y'all be careful okay! Love your dog and cat. We have 8 cats and 5 dogs at this time. A stray dog showed up on Nov. 19th and the phone number on his collar is useless! I hate it when people just drop off their animals, or lose them with no way to get in touch with them when they're found! You guys are in a great spot for people to "lose" their unwanted animals and dump them on you. I'm sure you know that since I believe you said you had been there for a while. Sorry, didn't mean to write a letter! Be careful and have fun! God bless y'all.

A pair of vintage extendable swing arm curtain rods ( with rings) so the window can be fully seen. A baby crib quilt 36" x 52" cut in half with cut edges re stitched would be good window insulation. E-Bay has lots of those curtain rods for cheap but they are really nice looking. Second hand clothing stores should carry old baby quilts. Heck even a thick old wool blanket would work as curtains cut to size...less fuss too. Could also try a large vehicle wind shield reflective sun screen. (even less fuss..lol)

No fire-resistant hearth pad on the WOOD floor under the HOT stove - or ceramic fibre insulation on the WOOD wall behind the HOT stove . . . or around the WOOD exit hole for the HOT METAL stove pipe. i can see the exemplary craftsmanship that has gone into the building of these shelters from here to the northern Siberian woods. But only a handful of the builders - who are all amazing craftsmen - have even a SMIDGEN of an idea of SAFETY. I grew up in a logging camp on the Northeast Coast of Vancouver Island in the 1950s - access only by water - and EVERYthing was fueled by wood. A HUGE sawdust burner for a cooking and baking stove in the kitchen - and a Benjamin Franklin cast iron stove for heating the living-room and the rest of the house. Even after we'd moved to town (when I started school in 1956) - we had wood stoves - right up 'til we moved to the city (Vancouver) in 1965. Every single time we installed a stove - the FIRST thing that went down was (in this order) - 1. the fire-proof hearth bad - 2. the shiny metallic fire-proof insulation, tucked under the back edge of the hearth pad, and then rolled up the back wall behind the stove to the ceiling - 3. the same fabric lining the exit hole for the stove pipe - and also around the stove pipe, itself. And once all those items were in place - then and ONLY then - did we install the stove(s). I have gone on so many of these bushcraft sites - and it's accurate to say that the number of builders who even consider insulating their RED HOT cast iron wood stoves from the surrounding highly flammable WOOD floors and walls and exit holes - could be counted on the fingers of one hand. I shake my head . . .

LOVE the fact that you take your cat with you. I doubt she'll run away in this cold.

Some of my favorite reads were the adventures of Lew and Charlie from Fur fish and Game magazine and a book that I own and have read many times over the years is cache lake country by john j rowlands. Interestingly enough another youtuber I follow Shawn James - my self reliance, has that book on his shelf as well. Though I'm in my mid 50's and haven't made it into a cabin yet these are the stories that inspire my desire to live the cabin life. I grew up in the woods of michigan and even lived for a time in Duluth while my dad was in the military back in the 70's so I'm pretty familiar with snow and cold. We brunt wood the whole time I was growing up and I hated cutting wood as a kid but now find it peaceful enjoyable work . As my grand dad who was an old swede used to say "wood always warms you twice - once when your cutting it and again when you burn it." Practical words from a practical man. Thanks for the videos Kyle they help keep the dream alive!

That would be amazing….snuggling up to stay warm by the fire, reading a book or playing games. Love that sound 🔥 🤭 😉 Just ignore any banging or rock tossing 😝
