Well don’t follow him when he says to push the gas pedal in while you shift it. Because that’s something anyone that’s been driving stick should now. Specially if your teaching someone to drive a stick you tell them to let off the gas pedal every time you shift. There’s no need to push the gas pedal in when shifting. It’s actually bad for the clutch when it reengages because it needs to match the now LOWER RPMS (which is what he means when we says to make the shift smoother) but as a beginner you shouldn’t be touching that gas pedal anytime you push that clutch pedal in SO REMEMBER THAT

Haha thanks for the video.. refreshed my memory from being a teenager. I've never owned a manual transmission car (mainly cause I've been driving an automatic Tacoma for about 17 years), so I haven't touched a manual since I was in the seat of a Ranger back in Driver's Ed in high school. Fast forward to present day and I'm wanting to get a Wrangler and trying to decide between Manual or Auto. I'm still not sure yet but I'm at least willing to entertain the idea of a manual ;)

I've learned how to drive stick before, but it's a perishable skill. This weekend, I may be going down to Tucson, AZ to buy a 2005 Jeep TJ Rubicon for $1900. The catch is it's a manual, and I live in Peoria, AZ, so it's a 2 hour drive. This video really broke it down easy, and I think I should be able to get it home safely 😊 thank you for the super helpful video!

What I did when I first started driving stick in my tj is give it a little "bwen bwen" as I like to call it when i give it gas. Basically feathering the gas just a tiny bit until it takes off. Then I got use to giving it a little gas and easing off the clutch. Everyone develops their own way. It's very tiny differences that people develop when they drive stick.

So when going to first to second. You should have the same technique just at a faster pace . It’s all smoothness man I used to do what you did and after two weeks I shift way more smooth

Any thoughts on the shift light? I am relearning to drive manual on a 97 TJ. Shift light always tell me to shift at around 2000 rpm but that seems low. What are your thoughts?

I have a 2014 Jeep manual. IT seems really jerky in first gear. wants to bob back and forth. Any idea? Also when I shit even in 5th gear i can feel it as my neck kinda bobs forward. I try hard shift and smooth shift. Any advice? Maybe something wrong with my sifter? only 70k mils.

sounds like you might be letting the clutch out to quickly and not giving it enough gas

When I let off the clutch without the gas just like in 1:04 in my TJ my whole car vibrates and jerks. I have a new clutch and it still does it. could it be a warped flywheel?
