That is a nice car man lot of potential. I have nothing but respect for the GM cars I know what they're capable of and it's nice to see a gm guy who respects fords and any well made car really. The cobra in 2003 was amazing it was unheard doing the things it was doing. It could keep up very well with a z06 at 20 grand less which is a huge deal. Until then the mustang had never threatened the base vette let alone a z06 so this was a pretty big deal for mustang guys. The 03 amazingly only stickered 2 grand more on 2003 than the 01 cobra did in 2001 and it has a stock blower, stock built bottom end, stock t56, and a bunch of other better stuff not to mention it looks better all around as well. All that is things the 01 did not have for only 2 grand less it was insane. The mach was the only all motor non cobra r mustang to have anything for the ls cars the ls still had a slight edge but it was close enough to be a drivers race stock for stock and the mach could even hang mod for mod all motor which a mustang had never done before. It is an amazing mustang in it's own right and dont get enough credit it was overshadowed by the badass 03 cobra somewhat understandably so. But dont ever hang your head or apologize for having an ls1 ta them things are mean and have alot of potential not to mention they look better than camaros imo.

I've had the Bullitt, Mach 1 and Cobra. They all 3 have their unique qualities and differences. I loved the Bullitt seats and green paint, the Mach 1's shaker hood and looks, and the Cobra is an absolute legend. After going terminator though, it's hard to go to anything else.

Mach 1 also had an auto option just pointing that out. 5 speed machs got the same forged 8 bolt crank that all cobras had (even previous to 03-04) the auto mach had cast 6 bolt crank from the gt. Mach had cast pistons and rods like cobras prior to 03 and the gt had. The cobra had 8.5:1 compression with forged pistons and rods the mach had 10:1 and cast pistons and rods. Heads are the same. Machs did have aluminum block but no forged internals minus the forged crank. The reason the cobra had forged internals is because the old rods were not surviving the torture tests with normal rods and they were running out of time so they literally put manly hbeams in it from the aftermarket stock so they wouldn't have to cancel the cobra again like they did for 2002...you mentioned alot of that in this video though just a couple minor corrections. Nice video and nice car. There are alot of misconceptions about these cars. Back in the day I had a 97 cobra and I always had people asking if that was "one of them supercharged ones" all the time lol. It only came supercharged 2 years but everyone always thinks all cobras were supercharged even though there was 5 model years with a 4v 4.6 with NO supercharger lol. The IRS debuting in 03 like you said is another misconception. I can see why it would be confusing for the average person there are alot of little tidbits that is different about all these cars I know them all well because I was 20 years old in 2003 and these cars were a very big deal. The cobra was amazing and the mach is alot better than people think it is. It was underrated as well they put down over 280 to the tires stock in mm&ff mag back in the day and it was supposed to have 305 hp crank. A misconception with the mach 1 is that it is the 96-98 cobra engine because they are both rated at 305 hp but it isn't it is alot a different and actually put out around 330 to the crank stock. I owned a 97 cobra and an 03 mach and I can tell you from personal experience the mach is the faster car stock for stock and mod for mod all things being equal the c headed mach is just better. The heads and intake are alot better in 03-04 mach but the intake cams are better on the 96-98 cobra and actually pick up 20 rwhp on a mach with no torque loss over stock. Aftermarket cams in a mach REALLY wake it up were talking 50-60 rwhp with the right tuning that is a huge gain for a 300ish rwhp car. I love them all. I now have an 07 gt500 and one thing I love about it is it has the old school 4v mod motor sound unlike the coyote. I prefer that old school sound for sure although coyotes can sound good too set up right I prefer the older 4v mod motors

Both the mach 1 and terminator were both underrated power wise. The machs put down as much ss 280+ whp bone stock....so closer to 330 hp than 305 they rated them at...same with the cobra rated 390 many put down north of 380 bone stock....so obviously 390 was underrated. These cars are so bomb. Alot of naysayers will act like these cars arent special its just a 400 horse motor with a blower its crap blah blah...they dont realize they do almost 380 stock to the tires and you can add 100+ on top of that for very little invested and due to the engine being built from the factory they can take that and more all day long. Blower and fuel system and you can make 700-800 wheel on a stock engine from 2003...i think that in and of itself speaks for how great these cars were and still are today. They were impressive stock for their time but its the aftermarket potential and bang for the buck that really makes them amazing cars.

Ford and SVT in particular has been known to have a habit over the years of under estimating their cars' horsepower ratings. It was the case with the 94-95 Cobra too. Probably other Cobra years as well. Same with the Shelby GT500.

@@jamisgood21 93 cobra had basically the same engine as 94-95 and was also underrated. The mach was underrated also really had around 330 hp. Cobras usually dyno 360-380 about the same as a gen 1 coyote some can dyno more or less but that is the norm.

@@coreyburns2074 cam only ls1 might beat a stock cobra. A blower swap can have you at a reliable 600-800 whp with very minimal mods otherwise....maybe a fuel system. You cant do that with that ls1 on a stock engine it would need a built bottom end to handle that kind of power reliably. They could have hit the power level they wanted with an na 5.4 dohc the cobra r had one that was rated 385 but put down close to that at the wheels it had easily 420-430 hp and it didnt have a blower. Ford could have essily done that they decided to go with a blown 4.6 because the power and torque across the powerband is just better...its quick stock and can be much faster with minimal mods. Just like you can say its fords fault they didnt go with bigger cubic inch engines you can just as easily say its gms fault they didnt bolt on a blower to the camaro...oh yea they did end up doing that years after the terminator with the zl1. Obviously ford must have been onto something because both dodge and gm ended up releasing multiple factory supercharged v8s

Corey Burns kmao the cobra goes 180mph without a limiter, runs 12s 1/4 stock faster than every modern muscle car besides the big dogs like hellcats and Gt500s but that’s expected you claim that ford had to make a whole new engine just to beat the ls1 but it beats literally most modern cars stock, I didn’t know a car company building a new engine was a bad thing I guess it paid off the cobra is a legend and has maintained its value better than almost every mustang and camaro and it’s value will only keep going up especially the 10th anniversary with its 2,003 production number

I just finished Iron Fist Lead Foot a few weeks ago. It was a really good read. Just another interesting fun fact. I know that with the 94/95 Cobra's the 8th number in the VIN was always a D which was a good way to tell the difference between the actual Cobra's and Fobra's. Not sure if this continued past 95 or not though.

The letter on 07-09 gt500s possibly later ones too is S....S88 for coupe or S89 for vert that s let's you know it's a real gt500. I have an 07 gt500 with the certificate of authenticity I also ordered a copy of the original window sticker when I ordered the COA it's pretty cool the COA came with a paper explaining what all the letters in the vin mean...parts of it tells you what plant it came from and like I said the s tells you it's a gt500 and the number right after it tells if its coupe or vert pretty cool and interesting. Always been a big SVT fan I miss SVT...they're now ford performance and still make good vehicles but there was something special about SVT

The 2 white mustangs in the clips, have 2 of the nicest wheels on a new edge in my opinion. So yours, gt 17x8, and the early new edge cobra wheels, seem to look the best on a new edge. The 03/04 cobra wheels look good but their spokes are too fat, so in a 17" they look a bit small these days.

Thanks Robert! 390 was a lot back in 2003. With a supercharger swap theses cars make 600+HP. The terminator was the internal project codename at SVT for the 2003-2004 cobras

Have the 04 Mach 1 and the difference against the Cobra is obvious. To find a Terminator Cobra in good shape actually for sale is difficult. I would like to build my engine with the forged connecting rods and piston and keep the 10-1 compression. The Cobra had 8-1 to compensate for the supercharger.

I wonder if the aluminum 32v suffers from the lack of nickel that the pushrod 5.0 did. For anyone that doesn't know, the 5.0 block (common in the foxbody and the '94/'95 V8 models) was cast with less nickel content than its predecessors which resulted in less tensile strength. What this means to you and I is that the 80s & early 90s pushrod 5.0 has a "limit" of ~500hp before the block itself will literally crack. There is a supporting mod that someone came out with to help prevent this from happening... and this mod is literal brackets meant to hold the block together lol.

I have an 03 Cobra and I hate the hop as well. Question one: What bushings did you recommend? Question two: Does it allow both tires to peel out? Because it feels like posi-traction to me.

Get the Full Tilt Boogie Racing bushings. I have the FT5001, FT1350M and the FT1860. The bushings have nothing to do with the limited slip dif. But you will get rid of your wheel hop and its slop. But you should have more even traction with the ground and both rear tires.

There was an old issue if mm&ff mag where they pitted the then-new 03 cobra against a 2000 cobra r in a bunch of different tests and they dyno both and found out both were underrated they estimate the 03 cobra at 429 hp and the cobra r af 416 hp at the flywheel based on their wheel hp that they put down so both cars were very underrated at 390 and 385 respectively. The na 5.4 was an impressive engine for it's time and once it gets rolling it's a monster up top and mid range but the cobras blown motor smoked it down low obviously but it was interesting to see the differences in the power curve between the two engines. You can probably find the article online. Ford was actually contemplating an na 5.4 for the 03 cobra before they made them and while they were able to hit their power targets with that engine colletti had the foresight to know that they wanted something with more low end (roots blower) and more upgrade ability they were very ahead of the game and that is why they went with the blown 4.6 over the na 5.4 and the rest is history. Idk if you're old enough to remember when the 03 cobra came but it was a huge deal. It had 70 more rated hp vs the precious cobra (more in actuality) and was built for ALOT more with the stock blower and stock built bottom end and stock t56 etc and shockingly it only msrped 2 grand more than the 01 did couple years before which was amazing. You were basically getting 10 grand worth of goodies for free it was a huge deal. These things were amazing then and they still are today.

Sorry i thought its just the upper part after Posting i realized it said show more...xD In my option theres nithing more Premium than a new edge mustang gt/cobra etc...i love the body, the Sound, how i always hear what kinda animal it is. Since i am female and its kinda hard to get Respekt from other about cara or what i love and do but Id love tho own or drive one one day... Also crown vics caught my heart ive to admit. Ofc raptors too.. Damn i live those machines...

It looks cool but performance is just Ok now 😉...Dodge Mopar killed everything with the Hellcats and Scat packs when I was 24 this and the Ws6 Pontiac were the top dogs .. fast forward even just keeping to the mustang lineage it's ranked behind the Shelby 350, 500, rouah, saleen, regular 5.0, unfortunately never saw that coming 20 years ago

They replaced the volt meter with boost gauge….and shitty alt…105 amps…mine has an Autometer volt meter and KMJ. 200 amp alt….😀😀

Should have did the difference in cobra heads alot don't kno that the 03/04 dont really have the same heads dc/db castings also 99/01 c heads 96/97/97 are b heads mach 1 same as the terminator minus the iron bloc all aluminum bloc for the mach

They made new edge cobras in 99 and 01, they were not supercharged. Then in 03/04 The engineers codnamed the cobra the Terminator.
