omg all this kylie bashing... this is about honouring Abba and the song. She did a splendid rendition of Dancing Queen at the Sydney Olympics 2000 and always confessed to be a big fan since her teenage years. I am happy to see that Benny seems to agree that this is a song that deservers a second life and took it into the film version of Mamma Mia... Come on people be generous to her and it was probably a dream come true for her. No matter if you thought her to have a good voice, Kylie always has a decent style as person and character. She deserves better than easy bashing on the net.

ARE YOU KIDDING?! Considering the paucity of talent and musical vision, singing ability and memorable and worthwhile songcraft that Minogue displays. people are bloody nice to her and have always been. Just like Slagdonna the vile before her, she was 'lucky lucky lucky' to appear at a time when all reviewers forgave every little embarrassing (and sometimes downright vile-yes all S/A/W fans, downright vile) mistake she put out on record. Derivative as hell, without a style to call her own, get a life, people. What is WRONG with you all?! She'll never marry you, oh fan club Kylie, she likes 'em rich and younger than her now, but she loves her so-called career more. And no I don't dislike her. S-T-O-P confusing constructive criticism of an actual career for a slagging off of the person. Christ, what the far better likes of proper female singers with quality material, underrated as hell and conveniently whitewashed out for the slaggy, contrived bimbette pretenders had to put up with. All Kim Wilde, Kirsty MacColl, Toyah, Sandra, Claudia Brucken, Voice Of The Beehive and T'Pau had to put up with was pointless, wrong-footed, near-sighted, befuddling criticism-WHEN they were even considered at all-a bit rich when they've set the standard for many to follow to diminishing returns all round. Minogue IS nice persona-wise (despite the creepy mindset to still look a schoolgirl past 40), her love of botox BEFORE it got fashionable and her inability to come out with something more meaningful than fluffy. Which is fine, but we don't all want to keep hearing someone getting bloated and misconceived hot-air clouds of fake accolades just for standing in front of a mic while wiggling her bum and sounding more like a machine then the machine does. I don't think I've heard her sing properly for years. REAL singers don't need effects to take over their voice and try and make it palatable. Be generous to her? That IS generous. People have been cotton-woolling ever since she appeared with all those vile S/A/W songs, and one could argue she's deviated little from since. This puts her WAY WAY above the vile likes of Madonna, but then she IS very like that bitch in too many senses. Both are so desperate to be remembered, to stay 'current' they won't leave us alone for more than a year, rattling off any mediocre nothing as long as it's something out there. The need to overwork their underwork while clearly fighting the undignified battle against ageing and the need to ignore a partner who knows they won't give more than 20% to a relationship is stark and glaring. This insecurity and self-love is nauseating and sad, nice person or not. And Minogue has admitted that Ciccone is one of her (zero) heroes. What a shocker! So while she feels the need to pick an ABBA song from the period everyone ignored for ever, while laudable enough, still smacks of heavy scripting. She does it when everyone is reassessing ABBA correctly, and does it once these awful 'mamma mia' films are out, with the nauseatingly players doing this song. Kim Wilde too does the odd ABBA song live-many do-but doesn't feel the need to have it lauded JUST for doing it. In fact her younger sister (the subject of her 1986 hit 'Schoolgirl') is embarrassingly a backing singer for Ms Minogue-who still won't cover a Kim song (though I bet if she did the choice would be as obvious and unwanted as her stale, long past their date lazy, uninspired and obsolete disco mashings. How long can someone keep singing about loving to dance all the time. I never liked the insipid likes Gloria Estefan doing it! I don't think Kylie will die from a little correct observation that if you try to launch for the heights from a platform not even seen with the naked eye its so low, don't be surprised if the only fair declaration you're fit for is disdain, embarrassment , or at the very least askance. That she even got these for being noticed doing it in the first place is a height she might not deserve at the very least, so there you are, Ms Minogue, one height of a kind met. No surprise, as people have only being burping your praises since your first cringed us all through the loveless 'locomotion' and the 'yucky yucky yucky' 30 dreaded years ago. How time doesn't fly or change what truly never mattered. And on an entirely different topic-only linked in as much as it concerns the same person, Minogue remains an approachable presence, and tales of her tantrum throwing seem non-existent. This alone is very different to all the others she so unnervingly holds as contemporaries. Pick better company is all I can say. And even though this performance here is exactly what it is, at least she's not loing that insipid and pitiful 'Only You' ruination. And there's no hagdonna here-the worst person in the world to screw an ABBA song. You're wrong here. The internet for once allows a few people to be brave, individual and normal enough to do the unthinkable-to actually criticise someone so unused to it that all her fawning nutters have aneurysms over something as harmless as a: "that one song is not quite so 101% out of 10 as all her other amazing million others, but she'll pull it back I know, she's the greatest after madonna". Something that would he considered the highest of praise had any pre-slagdonna female singer not already critically accepted would should they ever be 'lucky lucky lucky' to get it. And that reminds me of what several journos and many college students put forward at her first appearance. What does Kylie say when promised a future in the music biz. "I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky..." and repeat 4 more times. And then for the next 30 years. So lucky indeed that criticism and dividing taste-so expected in most things in another world-aren't even allowed to exist, never mind touch. Oh that's Kylie. SOOO the most vilified person online. Oh no! See her fall. Aren't we all so EVIL whoever we all are?!

As much as I LOVE ABBA and Kylie Minogue, and while I think she does a good job with it, nobody can beat Frida Lyngstad. Pity we never actually got to hear Frida sing this song live. She would have smashed it! Doesn't help that this song is underrated as it is. What's with the second verse anyway? Don't recall that being in the original, and it was in the Mamma Mia version (I MUCH prefer Kylie to Pierce Brosnan's abysmal singing...). Did Benny/Bjorn just add another verse? Not that it needed one.

Some of the lyrics of the songs in the movie "Mamma Mia" they were changed to fit the story of the film. For example "My love my life", if you look at the first verse, it is already different from the original song of the group, and they did the same with many of the lyrics. Kylie did an amazing job and ik it is not the point but... NO ONE EVER can do it better than Mrs Lyngstad. I love that woman: so talented, funny, kind, sweet, charming, intelligent, generose, humble, hard worker, polite, inspirational and outrageously beautiful 🙈❤️✨💕 Benny Andersson is a genius... His band B.A.O is amazing. 😻💞

The original arrangement is euphoric, upliftingly sad, driving, magic.
