Great to see this in action! You know you're a long time Kyma user when you want to always stop the sound with 'command K'. I had to laugh when I heard that!

Thanks ! Would it be possible to use FW interface to Pacamara sending spdif to another spdif soundcard in the mac to achieve the same result?
@SimonHutchinson Жыл бұрын
Interesting. I hadn't thought about that (nor do I have the equipment to test it out, unfortunately). If you're thinking about it, that might be a question worth reaching out to Symbolic Sound about (though all of this is solved in their new Pacamara Ristretto hardware).

Thanks@@SimonHutchinson . I want a 2nd hand as a ristretto is a bit too much for me. Im planning to use this setup instead of Dante because Dante relies on its application.
@SimonHutchinson Жыл бұрын
@@habemusfyah Makes sense. I can't justify getting a ristretto at this point either. My Paca setup is still serving me well though. Good luck with things!

I tried exactly this but the limitation for me was that the AVIO adapter is limited to just two channels. It's so much easier than dealing with Firewire and all that but it's a pretty big tradeoff (unless you have found a way around it, I guess).

silly question, @Simon Hutchinson, but is the AVIO plugged into the paca, or the computer? if the paca, which port?
@SimonHutchinson2 жыл бұрын
The Paca! Either of the USB ports.

Would this allow me to route audio to the paca as an effects loop and send the master audio to HDMI or default laptop speakers? Windows user here, by the way. Also - I would connect this from the computer’s Ethernet port to the paca’s usb port?
@SimonHutchinson Жыл бұрын
Kyma, in this case, is just working as a send/return in the DAW, so the sound comes out the usual place (wherever your DAW comes out). That said, the computer's LAN is connected to a Dante AVIO, not directly to the Paca(rana)'s LAN. You need that third-party piece of hardware to make this work. And apparently this is all solved by getting a Pacamara Ristretto too.
@tomtolleson3520 Жыл бұрын
@@SimonHutchinson thanks! The Ristretto is the ideal for me but for now I’ve ordered the Dante AVIO. You mentioned an extra piece of hardware… what would that be… an Ethernet switch? Or can I just connect them both to a router?
@SimonHutchinson Жыл бұрын
@@tomtolleson3520 I use a switch, but you can just plug the ethernet from the computer into the AVIO (running into the USB of the Paca). I feel you on the Ristretto. It'll be out of my price range for a while too!

So, you're saying that I don't have to buy the approved Audio Interface to use the Pacarama and Kyma????
@SimonHutchinson3 жыл бұрын
Yes! But keep in mind there are a whole bunch of compatible interfaces (www.symbolicsound.com/cgi-bin/bin/view/Learn/SupportedConverters). I have my Dante, a little $20 Behringer thing, and then a MOTU Ultralite that I use for different situations.

True! There are lots of under-$100 solutions, though. Check out that Behringer or a used Presonus Firebox.

It is possible to get kyma timeline to interact with pro tools automation lanes ? Like could i control automation in timeline within a pro tools session this would be crazy handy if it is a thing ? ! Anyone know ?
@SimonHutchinson2 жыл бұрын
If Pro Tools is sending MIDI to Kyma, you could have Pro Tools send MIDI commands that trigger Kyma "WaitUntil" objects.
@scott_free58163 жыл бұрын
Does Dante also allow one to control Kyma with midi sent from the DAW?
@SimonHutchinson3 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge, the Dante AVIO is just for audio, you'd need to use a separate interface for MIDI.

96 or 192k support yet? Thank you for the demo 🎛️👍

I'm not sure, but I think the Pacamara Ristretto makes this all moot, right? I don't have one, but it apparently uses your computer's audio interface directly, right?
