Yup.. He deserves to go down in history as one of metal best vocalists. Idk, even if you're not a fan and hate the music, you cannot deny that he is fricking exceptional

Its amazing how even when his voice was shot and he sucked live (come on guys, he’s my idol but we all know when his voice was blown during MOAB era it was pretty bad) he still managed to make up for it with stuff like this or just stage presence in general

I still can't watch the Lotus live Symphonic version where he has a red jacket on. It feels like being stripped of skin and dropped in a tub full of lemon and salt when he tries to sing the high parts but no sound comes out.

Monkey's paw: Patton, using his unfaltering artistic vision, turns the entire collaboration into 1960s italian pop music. Kyo is the backing vocal.

I firmly believe that the only dir en grey isn’t as big as they should be is because there from Japan and sing in Japanese I firmly believe if they went and were from the UK France or the USA they would be the biggest band in the world especially with Kyo’s vocals he’s unmatched by anyone in the world

I know comparisons are wrong but please someone tell me how it is that people found Babymetal is better than this. I try to wrap my head around it and I fail and really, I just think I'm getting too old to understand, which is sad, so bear with me. I need compassion.

Unfortunately, numbers speak for themselves. Believe me, I do not mean to disrespect Babymetal or their fanbase. I hate those who spend their time insulting artists they don't appreciate. Just look somewhere else, but it's stronger then me: I would love to understand how it happened that kind of music became more successful outside Japan than DEG ever were. They do not even have a decent promotion outside Japan these past few years. It stresses me, even though I am not entitled to this reaction. Feelings are innocent, right?
@berkerrang41494 жыл бұрын
Babymetal has the appeal of attractive girls. Don’t get me wrong, BM has some amazing musicians and collaborators like Takeshi Ueda, Ikuo, and others but its the appeal of the girls and their stage performance style. Plus they’re more poppy, which i love upbeat choruses but theres a limit. Plus most of their fans are men and in Japan men tend to gravitate towards idols en masse while a lot of male japanese bands have mostly female audiences except for maybe bands like SiM and Crossfaith. Plus not everybody can digest and appreciate true art and talent like DeG. I know for a fact some of their more complex songs like Macabre are just now becoming appreciated by me. If i discovered them through something like ARCHE or their early albums, it wouldn’t be as attractive to me. But because i’ve been a fan for the better part of a decade now, i appreciate all of their work because i know what they are capable of and their entire metamorphosis as a band and am able to appreciate every song they do. I will say though, live shows in japan probably aren’t as engaging crowd wise as bands like the Gazette lives are. The Gazette has more interactive songs where everyone is headbanging in unison or doing that weird synchronized fangirl hand movement shit, but at DeG lives most people just stand in amazement at kyo and the rest of the band. DeG is a band you have to use all senses to enjoy, less complex bands (still great bands) like Gazette focus mostly on groove and rhythm and more mainstream genre elements. TL;DR. Normies can’t comprehend modern musical genius
@berkerrang41494 жыл бұрын
KremIsis I also heard that their lack of promotion in America was due to incompetent booking agents
@KremIsis4 жыл бұрын
@@berkerrang4149 thanks for your very interesting comment. I agree on everything you said except for one thing. Western listeners are a wide public when it comes to sophisticated bands. We have so many I don't even want to try making a list. The Gazette, as well as BM, are not the same kind of act DEG are. They are just dressed the same way (well, more or less). You can give them a million years, they'll never compose Macabre. On the other hand, after Macabre DEG never stopped creating incredible songs. It's not their fault Macabre definitive version is one of the greatest songs ever - they don't fear any comparison. That's a true Masterpiece. I don't think musicians of their kind really are so obsessed with mass popularity - which is different from saying they don't care. Their leader openly admitted in his book they were a lot after success, especially in the beginning. But their musical journey is far beyond that. Probably at their level there's something more than pure intention - musical instinct takes over. I'm not complaining. I adore them, they make me perfectly happy with each release when Tool, once of my favorite bands ever, disappointed me to the bone. But in the end, this is what I'm talking about. If there is a market for Tool, there's a market for DEG, too. I refuse to believe that people taking part in certain festivals really prefer BM over DEG. The thing is, they don't even know DEG exist. Maybe it's just me being too old to understand entertainment beating music when the subject is this kind of music, that used to be crowded with purists and snobs. Japan is full of legitimately considered great bands and I absolutely agree (who wouldn't!) on the Kami band. But DEG don't belong there. They belong with the Pantheon, and they are the only ones. To me it's a sort of personal offence that I have to introduce them to every single friend of mine who has an interest in certain music, and then debate their appearances, and BM have topped the charts. It's not about music: thus is 100% about something else. On the other side, most people don't even listen to Devin Townsend. So, maybe I'm simply wrong which is perfectly fine with me. This is just my personal opinion.
