I love how you put the scene on the beach to the I Can’t Have It’ line, where he’s flinching away from Tohru’s helping hand, or showing Kyo’s dad blaming Kyo during the ‘Tell me lies, I still buy them like they are going out of the stock’. Kyo goes through such an emotional journey in this series, but because he’s not the protagonist you as the reader/viewer don’t even realize until you have the full picture. He’s a really complex character

It's either symbolic (like how his mother isolated him and was overprotective in a way) or he did transform after that, we just didn't see it. The zodiac members can be hugged but only for a really short amount of time.
