Less than a minute in and a thought struck me… in exercise physiology, shouldn’t you break a sweat first (say with jumping jacks) BEFORE you stretch your muscles? I’m sure it pretty much works a bit anyways, but to my understanding that is the best method for warm ups. Also, I don’t think it is wise to bounce when stretching… from what I understand.

I totally agree man. This is the shadow side of Kyokushin that I encountered too late: so much focus is put on the importance of overcoming one’s limits and pushing through that it bulldozes this thin edge between stretching and overstretching... This might be just me though I’m still recovering from injuries years after my practice. If I had to start again, I’d warm up 5-10 minutes before each practice! Osu

Most dojos do that. This is for an instructional so they are pretty warmed u p. Plus, similar to yoga, where there are no jumping jacks or similar, the stretching itself does the warming up.
