Hi Chatty, The 30 days visa you mentioned is under the "e-visa" category, which is only valid for 30 days. I too have surrendered my Indian passport, and needed to travel to India recently. I was told by the agent, currently you can't apply for e-visa or tourist visa as it's suspended. So there is one option, if you have surrendered your Indian passport, you can apply under "Entry visa" for 6 mths. Hope that helps as I just applied last week.

OCI process will take 6-8 weeks and the person with whom you met was applying for e-visa(emergency visa) which is valid for 5 years but you can stay in India for only 30 days with that visa

OCI(Oversea Citizen of India) card Issue karwa lena. Its basically Indian version of green card, it gives you all rights of indian citizen excluding - Voting, Government Jobs, Political positions, and Owning Farm Land.

Visa on arrival is possible with Canadian passport not with Indian passport unfortunately.I hope you understand the difference between developing and developed world.Moreover getting best of the both worlds is what NRIs want.

That is the down side in Canada. All are soo busy, that having a child is a expensive option in Canada. Couples normally have only one child the most. This is the beginning of the downsizing of the population. A couple should at least have 3 children. A very expensive choice.
