Kyosho Airboat - Toms River

Bought from Ebay as a mini project. These were around in about 1988. The local lake often gets weeded up - bad news for propellers and IC boats would not be allowed there. It only took an evening to clean it up and glue some of the plastic parts back together and and add some new plastic tubing where it was missing. I put in a new Wattage 35 amp (60 amp surge) IC-550 electronic speed controller in (£13 from Hobbystores), a 4300 6 cell NiMh battery pack and a cheap aircraft Orange receiver (about £6 from Ebay). I bound it to my Spektrum DX8 transmitter and everything worked brilliantly. The standard Kyosho brushed 540 LeMans stock motor did get a little warm, and I have since changed the prop for an APC 7x5 E one, which has cured the issue. It runs for about 15 mins or so - depending on how fast you go and is fantastic instant fun!
