If the Fazer came with ball diffs and they offered gear diffs as an upgrade, people would buy that. I am such a fan of the gear diffs. They are set it and forget it. I raced my Fazer last year in the Novice brushed class and won easily vs 3 others on an outdoor parking lot track. With the gear diff, it had just the right amount of push. I think the ball diff might perform better on an indoor carpet track.

I like that spec too. A kit with the ball diffs would make for a great option. I do agree the gear diffs are set and forget with diff oil weight as a way to tune.

Nice videos, they have been very helpful with my own Fazer MK2 build. How much have you tightened the differential and how long before the balls begin to deform from migration of grease?
@rotationnationRC8 ай бұрын
Hello and good to hear these have been helpful. It took me time to get it dialed it and the way I did it was to run too tight of spring spacers front and rear then dial in the diffs. Once you feel you have it under control or close to dial in start removing the spring spacers and you’ll be amazed. I’ve had any deformation but that’s a great point to be aware of

I just updated the description with a link… I learned a lot about tuning the diffs and need to do another video. I tuned the diffs with a over firm shocks and got it as best as it could that way and when I started removing the spring spacers it woke up - big time. My car absolutely rips. Life has kept me away from the computer to edit. It’s coming soon-ish

Yooooo this is an awesome build! I wish I had the confidence to change my diffs and instal with shims. I literally have no clue. When I get back off holiday I may buy a Fazer Kit and build a track car.

If you stick with sway bars and foam tires you’ll achieve a high level of performance. That way you’ll be able to skip the ball diffs and it will rip

@@rotationnationRC So far I have - carbon rear tower, aluminium drive shaft, sway bars, aluminium dog bones, aluminium motor mount and I swapped in a MAX10 combo 3300. I really want to get into diffs but I can’t get my head round it. I just moved my front shock positioning like you mentioned (I’m sure it was you) so il see how that makes a difference with handling
@rotationnationRC Жыл бұрын
@@sxixlxnx thing should really rip now. Which bars did you go with? I went with the mid weight bars and may goto the light weight ones to see. The diffs are cool to adjust but the gear diffs were more than adequate. If you have the time and patience to tune them they can be rewarding to run. I learned a lot with tires too. Are you running stock tires and one more question. What is the surface where you are running it?

Hello....great videos. Questions I have ....are you still using the black medium sway bars front and rear and have you done anything to the shocks ?? Different oil / springs / different shock position from stock ??
@rotationnationRCАй бұрын
I kept the shock positions stock and went down in size with the spacers and bar size in the rear. I woke the car up. Basically I dialed in thr diffs with the chassis stiff then loosened up the rear and the thing absolutely rips. Video coming about that process I just don’t know when because life has been crazy

Would you say that the ball diffs really help the stability of the car? I've had a fazer project going on for a while and have struggled with getting it to handle smoothly without being twitchy or unpredictable on the throttle, recently have purchased new shocks and adjusted the stock gear diffs and it's made a huge difference, but still looking for ways to Improve. Awesome video!
@rotationnationRC Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and great timing. I will be dropping another video on the next stage of tuning which might address some of what you're experiencing. I was having trouble with grip and that twitch you mention. What tires are you running? Ive just glued up some sticky touring car tires and tightened the ball diffs. My controller will allow for curve tuning so I plan to slow down the digital brushless servo and the same for the throttle curve. (probably too much servo - that's another story)I will know for sure what effects the tires, tightened ball diffs, and curve tuning will have in the next day or so and will speed up the edit so you can hopefully get those answers.

@@rotationnationRC I'm running Hobbypark tires, they have decent grip but can't handle the amount of power I'm putting through them. I just did some tweaking of the diff fluid and it has made a huge difference for the twitchy-ness of the car and has helped it launch in a straighter line than before, even when the wheels are spinning. All I did was put 20k weight fluid in the front diff and left the rear fully open. Seems to handle a lot better and would recommend doing something similar on your car, with the ball diffs I would just (almost) completely loosen up the rear and tighten the front to the point that when the car is off the ground, turning a front wheel by hand will turn the whole drivetrain, but if you apply some resistance it will still rotate the other front wheel. Hope that makes sense. The idea with the servo is also probably going to help, I have a servo that runs a little slower than stock and it helps keep things under control. I'll be interested to see how your upgrades will help with stability and I will be taking notes lol

@@wombatgaming5974 interesting idea I like the 20k up front and none in back. I’m running that trinity 10.5 with a 37 pinion. I’ll report back soon and will definitely be keeping your suspension tune in mind. I had some hot racing, racing tires laying around. Depending on results I’ll keep them on or just go direct to kyosho racing tires that came with the builders kit. Thanks for the tips

Sorry for the delay. Life happens. The good news is my fazer is absolutely ripping like I’ve not seen yet. I’ve got a video in thr can just need to edit. What I can tell you here is tune with hard tires and a bit firm set up and get it as dialed as you can then take all spacers off the shocks and go down one size sway bar in the rear. @@rotationnationRC I'm still working on mine. For now gonna stick with the gears it came with in the diff. Next big decision is a good speed control and motor combo. I had recently become a sort of Spektrum fan, only because most of the cars I bought the past few years had their equipment already installed. I have sort of fallen out of love with them recently though. Also annoyed as they don't make a good censored ESC / motor combo. I like the telemetry, although harder to access than my older (by maybe 11-12 years now? radio I got with my Losi Ten-T and my Losi 8ight B. A nice telemetry screen with all data shown on ONE screen, not have to scroll around to get to separate screens. Kinda of a step backwards if you ask me. So, to do without the telemetry, and have a smooth censored setup? decisions decisions..I do want to go with a 2 S setup though. Have censored Tekin units in both my now electric converted Losi 8ight B, and T, and they're just so buttery smooth, as compared with the few Spektrum, un-censored units I have that do that cogging a little bit. That drives me NUTS! I am also doing just about every available upgrade for the car as well. I have my Firebird body arriving today as well. Love the way that looks! Looking forward to the next video.

@@nsbob70 great info thanks for leaving the comment Bob. The sensored Tekin is a nice set up. Depending on where you drive it just go for foam tires and maybe a second rubber set for concrete.. sounds like you know this already.. The 10.5 T trinity slot machine I have is too much for my set up I also have a 35t pinion and added a curve on my throttle and I never thought I would say it but it’s over powered! If I did it again I would go for a 17 or even more 20 maybe. Hope this helps. Next vid with foam will be a day or so. What color are you putting on the firebird?

@@rotationnationRC Oh, I also put two more spider gears in the diffs. (Ironic making that point here on your ball diff video) But since I've been in this game, diffs have always had 4 gears in them. Had to order a couple bits, but all goes together smooth, and I'm sort of assuming, it'll help handle the power of whatever 3S system I choose. Fingers crossed. I think I may just go basic black on the T/A body. Just looks so sinister! I really like the look of your blue as well. Nothing's in stone yet. I'm also looking more in to foam tires as well, but I'll be running mine more like on smooth asphalt. Here in Florida, the roads are nice and smooth, so wondering if they'll be okay for that.
@rotationnationRC Жыл бұрын
@@nsbob70 that’s a slick mod I’d have done that if I wasn’t running the ball set up. So I’ve got a video in thr works and I touch on the mild treaded street tires the smooth touring car tires with the tread and the foam tires. Foam gets it predictable on that smooth asphalt and since we’re taking our street cars there most the time I’m looking at testing the totally smooth touring car tires. I’ll out the video out with the three I mentioned but it sounds like we’re on the right track. My 10.5 with a 37 just flat rips and if you’ve got a higher turn motor I’d bet it would move closer to sweet spot. But isn’t over powdered just right? 😜🤪😎
