Kyosho LeMans 240s Motor and ESC

In this video I have a look at the Kyosho LeMans 240s Motor and ESC I plan to use in the Kyosho Turbo Optima I'm currently building. The motor is a 15.5t. This isn't a review, just a look at what's in the box. Enjoy!

They are, they're real pretty! The Turbo Optima chassis is finished now. Hoping to have the video done by tomorrow, although it will probably be late. I do the driver and body in the next video. 👍

Morning Mick, that is a nice ESC and Motor from Kyosho. They seem to be that step up in quality throughout! Hard to get them over here in the UK and when they do come in they are super expensive. Your Kyosho models are having a real treat with them 👍🏻🙌🏻

G'day Craig! Yeah they're real nice. They seem to be hard to get everywhere, I end up buying mine from Japan and China as there were never any stocks in Australia. I guess due to their price they probably aren't big sellers and a lot of stores just don't order them, or Kyosho just aren't making enough of them 🤷‍♂️. Oh yeah, they're gonna be real pretty in their new homes. 👍

They look really nice especially in an old kyosho. I've got a rocket 10.5 turn and hobbywing esc sensored for the optima . I'm just about to drive the beetle and dark impact, will keep the Rottweiler inside this time! They say the ball diffs in a df03 are weak but it's been ok so far. Hopefully I can find a kyosho combo, just looks like quality and would look great with the red and gold . Can't wait to build it and the top force to. Wife's driving the Xmax today and the 8s kraton. The modern cars go ok but I can't stop driving the beetle. Have a good weekend mate and enjoy the build . Can't wait to see this.

They do mate! Those rocket 10.5 motors look nice, should be a beast in the Optima. Haha yeah, best to leave the dog inside, although it's great exercises for him to be chasing cars. Just expensive if he catches them! lol. The Kyosho motors and ESC's aren't easy to find. Well none of their stuff is really, which kinda sucks. You'll enjoy the Top Force build, they're a nice build. Oh nice, she'll be lovin it! Yeah, it's good to have a bit of variety in your RC's. You're doing it right mate! You have a great weekend too, hope your RC's all survive! No probs mate! Great idea! Have a look at Banzai Hobby Japan, they usually have the best prices. I just bought a few more LeMans 240s ESC's, they were almost half price of anywhere else! I think they only offer shipping by sea but I've never had any issue with them, it just takes a while. Would be great for the mid! 👍

Hay great show I bought 3 of those combo esc, motor, about a month ago all my esc's included the sensor cable. I guess they ship with them now.

Thanks Josh! That's right, most of my ESC's are the 37051 (no cable) which are now discontinued. The 37051B come with the cable now. 👍

Any chance for a video where you assemble the engines and servos, and attach em to a car? I'm finding tons of videos of people putting cars together, but not a single one with engine ,servo and battery "assembly"

Oh man, those things are so nice looking! I want to upgrade my setup in my Kyoshos but the cost and availability here is awful. For now I will be sticking with the Tamiya GT Tuned motor until I can find a set of these that don't cost as much as one of the kits! These do look amazing and that red would look great in the Tomahawk... Thanks for sharing Mick, I don't know anything about the Kyosho motors honestly other than the spec sheets.

They are mate! I can just sit there and look at them all day, beautiful looking motors. I hear ya mate, it took me well over a year to find mine, nobody ever seems to have them in stock. They must sell out real quick. The price is kinda up there too, but I think that extra is worth it for the look and to keep it all Kyosho. An added bonus of the ESC is the lack of a big bulky fan that most ESC's have. Most of the Kyosho kits are pretty limited on space for the ESC, so having no fan is a huge bonus. In my Ultima I run the Tekin RS Gen 3 for that same reason, no fan. It would look awesome in the Tomahawk. I actually forgot to mention that in my video, but I have the Kyosho LeMans 490 in that one. Wow, that's beautiful hardware, Mick! I like the look of that ESC, so it's a metal housing? I like that it has a screw mount, I think the big advantage is there can be air flow under it. One thing is for sure, that Turbo Optima will be a real Deathrider with that combo in it, I had to throw in an Anthrax joke, didn't I?

It is mate! Would look great in an art gallery lol. Yeah, the housing appears to be polished alloy. Me too, I think the screw mount is a great idea. I think you could use washers or make a spacer to space it away from the chassis for more air flow too. The thing I like most about it is the lack of a fan, so it can fit in cars where there's not much space. Haha nice mate! Your metal jokes are awesome, keep em coming! 😁👍

Now I know why it's so hard to get that ESC and motor (even here in Japan) - You bought them all!! 😁😁👍 Seriously though, they look fantastic and suit the buggies really well. I ended up going with a brushed set up: KA60-91W, (basically a Hobbywing 1060) and a Le Mans 490. For the 4WD buggies, I found it to be a little underpowered, but I wanted to keep with Kyosho, so fitted the Kyosho G15 Single brushed motor. Not much to look at, but it's cheap and pretty quick. Great video as always! Good look with the Turbo Optima build. I will eventually get around to starting mine!

Lol yeah I did get kind of greedy when I found them 😁. They do look awesome and I like the fact they don't use a fan, there's not a lot of room in some of the Kyosho buggies so that's a real bonus. I like the look of the 490 but yeah, maybe best for 2wd only. The G15 is a nice upgrade. Thanks mate, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Hoping to have the Turbo Optima done very soon. I took forever to get around to building mine, to be honest I think I just didn't want to take it out of the box as it looked so pretty. 😂👍

Hi Mick, great looking motors, one thing Kyosho do well, is that typical Japanese build design and build quality. Wonder If they are actually manufactured in Japan, or do they, like most other manufacturers, use a hosting country for manufacturing? Still look good. G'day John! Oh yeah, Kyosho have always had great looking motors. These are actually made in China, like everything else lol. I believe the ESC's are made by Performa Racing but I'm not sure about the motors. As a diehard Kysoho fan, I just buy them at face value really. It is a shame it's so hard to find products these days that are actually made by the company who's name is on the product. Oh well, that's the world we live in I guess. The lack of stocks is a real pain. First the kits are hard to get, then the parts are just as hard. So that's my excuse for my bulk buying and hoarding 😂. Mic this stuff is so hard to find. I'd like to stick this in my 2019 Ultima and 2022 Optima Mid, but together they are almost as much as the kit! I ended up getting the brushed Le Mans 490 and the Kyosho EP starter set. I swear Kyosho is the worst when it comes to availability. Don't they know people want to buy their products? They've been baffling me for 30 years!

ordered one from RCMart, but the upload photo, does not look blingy red, just plain red, I ordered the 37032 15.5 turn, hopefully it has the chromovolado paint on it.

Is there a hierarchy or other to read into the different colors of the Kyosho motors? Red, Gold, Green, Blue..?

The short answer is no. The long answer is in the old brushed motors yes there was as the different colours had different winds and some without bearings and so on. In the brushless LeMans motors they're all the same but have different colours and names. The 480S/480T even comes with different coloured end plates and the different decal to change it from one to the other. So basically with the brushless LeMans motors it's important to check how many turns a motor is before buying as they come in 13.5T, 15.5T, 19.5T and 21.5T versions. That said, I'm not 100% sure all winds are available in each colour.👍

I have a few of these motors and ESCs as well. I bought them for my future Kyosho Phantom build. I also have them for my future build of my legendary series build too. Unfortunately , these motors and ESCs are expensive. I bet you paid even more than I did. I live in California, USA and Kyosho has a distribution center here. Also the USA tends to have lower taxes and tariffs on most everything. Thoughts?

Awesome! They're the perfect addition to the Kyosho cars. Oh yeah, they're quite expensive and I'm sure I did pay more than you. I had to get mine from Japan and China so there was quite a bit of postage cost on top. How much I paid, I really don't remember. Usually with that kind of trauma I tend to block it from my mind 😂, but I just had to have them! 😁👍

Haven't been well for the last 3 or 4 days, so Ive only just seen this now. No Mick you didn't just go a little crazy, you went a lot crazy. My LHS had the blue/green brushless LeMans, and I can tell you there wasn't going to be much left in change to get a Snickers or Mars bar out of $200 I had in my pocket, if I had gotten one. I hesitated because I want to get a Futuba radio instead of Spektrum with my Ultima, and go modern oldschool with the motor like you have, Tekin or Orion. On the subject, what turn motor are you running in the ReRe Ultima? And if its a hot wind motor have you noticed any issues with fitment and motor/ESC temps. Thanks for sharing.

Hope you're all good now mate! Haha yeah, I do that sometimes. Oh yeah, they're pretty pricey. Someone else asked what I paid, I had to tell him I don't remember as I block that kind of trauma from my brain lol. As you might know, I'm also a Futaba fan so I think the Futaba is a great choice. Sounds like your Ultima is gonna be a beast! The motor in my Ultima is the Trinity Punisher 10.5t and the ESC is a Tekin RS Gen3, that ESC has a 8.5t limit. To be honest I've never checked the motor temp but It's still running like a beast and never had any thermal cut out on the ESC or anything like that. As far as fitment, it fits perfectly. The motor is a standard 540 size, the ESC is great though. Same as this Kyosho ESC, it has no big bulky fan so it's a great fit for the Ultima. Cheers mate! 👍

It is! They just never seem to be in stock anywhere. I was searching for months for mine and finally ended up finding some at banzaihobby.com/ Nice! The 240s will look (and run) great in the Turbo Optima. 👍
