Kyosho Mad Van VE Brushless Unboxing and Detailed Overview. 4WD RC Monster Van. The new Lunchbox ?

So after a rather long delay the Kyosho Mad Van VE Brushless finally arrived.
The body is a bit of a stunner and the rest of it looks good too.
In this video I look over it and strengthen the body.
I also compare the size and shape of it with the Tamiya Lunchbox.

Hi Phil. Yeah that would have been nice. I couldn't believe the price of the standard brown shell. I was thinking about £30! I look forward to seeing what you get up to with yours. I'm testing mine some more over the weekend :-)

Hi there. The wheelbases on the Mad Van body is significantly longer than the Lunchbox. You'd need to cut it in half and rejoin the halves so it's shorter. Not recommended! Many thanks for watching 😀

Now that, Pete, is a bloody good looking van - love the paintwork! Don't blame you for looking for an alternate basher shell. I saw that Mick of Hobby Shed broke his body on the first run... but it was CRAZY fast and lived up to the "Mad Van" name! Looks like a good chassis too. You will have tons of fun, I think it's got your name written all over it! Nice to see the comparison and a bit of runtime in the video, top job, matey. Hiya matey. Yeah this is the best RTR body I've seen and really it's better than anything I've ever painted too. I don't think that you could achieve that paint effect with the lexan paints that are on the market. I'm a bit concerned about giving it a beating. I did see Mick giving his a hard time. I'll see how it goes. This is more like a Tamiya than a big basher truck so I'll treat it accordingly. Anyway I only tested it a little bit to get some clips and it seems good. I did consider getting one of these a year or 2 ago before getting back into tamiya, I think I was looking at one with a metallic brown body, looks amazing and has enough of a retro style (which is what I like) as apposed to the generic blob that most bashers have as a body, cool truck great review, I still want one !!

Hi there. Yeah the body shell is the stand out feature of this RC. Having said that, it also runs really well and is good fun. I really need a basher shell as this one is too nice and the lights keep popping out when it crashes. Many thanks for your comments. Much appreciated 😁

@@PeteWylieRC I definitely think for hard bashing a cheaper kamtec or similar shell would be better than trashing that one, I am sure some clever person will make a mold out of this one and get some cheaper lexan options out there (hopefully) 👍

Hi Pete, hope you're keeping well. Wow £60 for an alternative shell ! that is an expensive option. Definitely right to get some LED's into that great looking shell, looks amazing, I suppose time will tell if the body shell details stay on the Mad Van, that great looking front bumper looks a little flimsy for the speed and intention of the model. I sure in your capable hands, it will be alright. I like the inside tips for strengthening the body in the areas of greatest stress. Master at work there. Looking forward to the first run and review. Hiya John. Yeah if it was £60 for the new body with the headlights and extra bits would be one thing but that was for the old version that is just a moulding with stickers on. Anyway I have been out with it and it is fun but the back lights do pop out too easily and also the edges of the front grill. Really need a basher shell for this. Anyway footage up before long. Aptly named... It's MAD!! 😁 Do like it Pete. But the cost of that BODY?!!!! What do they think, they're TRAXXASS?? 😳😖 Right, love the Candy Apple Red. Always have. The Gorilla Tape is of course a good idea, but a cheap Basher Body is even better. I haven't owned a Kyosho since the early 90's. No reason, just didn't. Hiya Carmine. Yeah I haven't seen the VE version body for sale but someone was telling me it's £80! The problem I've had so far is the rear lights popping out and the edges of the front grill. Defo need a basher shell. The other Kyoshos I'd consider are the retro buggies like the Scorpion. They look like fantastic kits. Anyway this one is great fun to drive. Hiya Pete! What a beauty! But yeah, that battery strap … ? And the body cut out for the wheelie bar? And the wheel screws ? And no front bumper? I’ve seen those solutions before - but on my cheaper ones, like HBX. I always expect more from Tamiya and Kyosho - but sometimes both those brands seems at a haste when designing things. Enough complaints - your new car looks absolutely superb and your idea of getting a basher body for it will help it look superb in the future too 🙂👍🏻 Love that red metallic color. Looks better and deeper than the PS-version. Congrats with it. Looking forward seeing it run more 🙂

Hiya Mikael. Yeah I did know about the slight issues with this one but it just appealed to me with the van body. I do need to get a knockabout body for it. The shell from my Bugsta fits it so that will do for now. I don't think you could ever get that deep metallic red colour with Tamiya spray cans. It's like Mazda soul red where it looks different from different angles. Would have been useful for my Mazda 2 and MX5 RC's! Anyway, many thanks for your great comments mate. Best wishes to you 😁

The beautiful body makes me nervous as I am always on a budget. The cost of the shells is crazy!!! I think the red one is £70 odd. Great overview as always 👍🏼

Yeah I know, I did think that before I bought this because I'd already looked up the price of the spare shell. I'm not sure how long it will last but I'm not going to go all Kevin Talbot on this one. Nice 👍 I saw this one online! It caught my attention because it’s rtr and brushless, when I saw it I was amazed at how scale it looked but kinda wondering how the body would hold up in a crash, looks like you beefed it up a bit👍 these van monster trucks are kinda popular right now I’m seeing them popping up everywhere definitely gonna have to get one, good detailed unboxing!

Hi there. Yeah it's not very often that an RTR has a body shell this nice. The main issue I've found is the back lights popping out and also the sides of the front grill. Apart from that a good fun RC for bashing about. Not a big bruiser like the Arrma trucks. More like a light 4wd buggy but with big wheels. Many thanks for watching my friend 😁

Yeah I did think that while I was doing it. I have since taken it off again because I wasn't very pleased with my cutting out effort compared to the pristine body. That is a very nice looking van Pete. Is it candy apple red metallic? I don't blame you for not wanting to use the body for bashing but 60 quid is rather excessive for a replacement body. Great tip for strengthening the body. I think I would look to see if I could retro fit a Lunch Box front bumper myself. Great stuff Pete. Hope all is well your end.

Hiya Rob. Yeah I'm not sure exactly what you call the colour but a very deep red metallic. I've found this body set for sale and it's more like £80! Crazy prices. The front of the chassis doesn't really lend itself to having the lunchbox bumper attached. Might just have to live with it with the little bumper. Many thanks for watching matey.
