The last samurai visits Kyoto Imperial Palace and introduces its history and the magical Feng Shui. He also visits Shokokuji temple close to the palace and introduces beautiful karesansui zen garden and some Japanese paintings.

Shouldn't confuse Nijo Castle with Imperial Castle! Nijo allows you to go inside if I remember correctly.

Right. Nijo castle belongs to Kyoto city. But the imperial palace belongs to the imperial household agency and it is guarded by the royal police.

Another wonderful and informative video! I have a question that I wonder if you know the answer. You say bad spirits come from the north-east. In Japan does this have anything to do with why Daruma dolls should face north, too? To keep away bad spirits? Loved your air sword as well 😊

I’m not sure about the Daruma but basically it should face south, I think. North is bad luck in Japan because Buddha passed away with his head heading north.

This is amazing, thank you! I am writing a travelogue about Japan and I need a little help if you can answer my question. You say 'byakko' and then you say something I don't hear well - is it 'sign in road'? Or a Japanese phrase? Thank you in advance. Kyoto is an amazing city and so is Hiezan!

Byakko is white tiger and it is the god of west. Byakko is also the symbol of road. In Kyoto the big road in west is Sanindo, or Sanin road which is one of the Japanese main roads along the Japan sea side.
