Even LeBron acknowledges that watching how Kobe practiced, competed and played on their first Olympic squad together made him realize what he had to do (as far as practice, work ethic, basketball IQ) to get to championship level. Yes Kyrie is quicker but Kobe's basketball IQ is like Jordan's. He could jab step and shoot over the top of Kyrie or just do his up and under move that he got off the older MJ. As far as defense and competiveness, people forget that Kobe was 1st team all defense for some years. Even though he's old, he would go all out in a 1 on 1 for bragging rights and he would win. It would be half court and if Kyrie drove past, Kobe is long and could alter Kyrie's shot at the rim. The best 1 on 1 game ever would be Kobe vs Jordan both in their primes....if it was win by 2, the game would probably never end!
@kobeandgary9 жыл бұрын
honestly kobe would most likely just sag off, Kyrie is great but odds are he is going to miss a jumper, from that point on there would be no need to for kobe to jab fake, pump fake, head fake or up and under. Kobe would just back him down hard and turn and lay the ball up, it would be a joke.
@sentry89922 жыл бұрын
Kobe wouldn't stand a chance against MJ. Kobe patterned his game after Jordan. That means there would be no Kobe without MJ. MJ has the in game creativity that can't be taught or duplicated. Kobe would always be a step behind Jordan.
@MarshonJLynchh2 жыл бұрын
@@sentry8992 nahhhh kobe took MJ's blueprint and ADDED to it He had MAD handles, the original handle god and dare i say it, He had a better crossover than Iverson lowkey cuz he had the Left to right AND the right to left cross and the space he created was too much, he was also better at shooting than jordan, he also had a stepback, all while being slightly lankier than jordan, the 1v1 between them would be legendary

I came here for 2:07. Its a classic. He would have schooled Kyrie any day. Rest easy friend. Its amazing that you came straight out of high school and for even at that age how hard you worked to keep us entertained every night for almost 22 years at that. Kobe was the loving father that was there for his kids and even when things were not going his way he always kept his game up for the city that he loved. First he did it once, then he surprised everyone and did it again! Hope you and your daughter are in a better place now.
@timetraveler9510 жыл бұрын
Who the hell cares if Kobe is way older than Kyrie. He has the height advantage, the weight advantage, the experience, and not to mention the fact that Kobe's made a reputation on completely dismantling players 1-on-1. He's pretty much dominated every star there is throughout his career in insolation... Heck, he even locked up Lebron a couple all-star games ago. Kyrie may be be young and fast, but there is NO WAY he would win a game against Kobe Bryant.

Honestly, I think most NBA legends would agree that Kobe possibly beats anyone in NBA history 1 on 1 with the exception of Mike. But even Mike would say that it would be close. Of course we need to take out circus match ups like Shaq vs. Kobe. But against any guard or small forward I think Kobe wins. Not many people who have ever been in the league would dispute this. It's kind of common knowledge. Kyrie is an EXTREMELY talented and skillful player but he's not checking Kobe. It wouldn't even be close, especially if Kobe got the ball first.
@sunnyboy86443 жыл бұрын
i would take Mike.
@codmiester3 жыл бұрын
Durant would probably beat everyone, then you have the kobe/jordans. Durant is literally a 7 foot steph curry with post moves like kobe. I think Kobe would probably beat MJ cause he is a better bad shotmaker imo and better shooter. MJ is more efficient in actual game though and better

Kyrie really looking immature here. Been in the league less than a year when this video was made and challenging Kobe one-on-one....wow. Cuz he's athletic, he thinks he can beat an assassin like Kobe. Kobe's hall of fame, first ballot. Kobe would annihilate him, on basketball IQ alone (not even mentioning that MJ killer instinct or perfected jumpshot he has). 15+ years Elite NBA experience with several Championships vs young kid who hasn't mastered anything at the NBA level. I'm betting all my money on Kobe 10 times out of 10. Young fellas need to learn from the best and get over themselves.

Confidence is what makes decent player's, good enough to be in the NBA. When I play basketball, I always have confidence, I talk trash to those I think is better than me, just to get up against them and to learn from any mistakes I make. Im not saying Kobe would win, Im not saying Kyrie would win. Im saying that him having confidence like that is what got him into the league. He's a great player and has a great mindset.

Kobe didnt want too. kept saying 25000 and 50000 bucks. He's afraid kyrie will give him a run for his um age. Kobe has waaaaay to much ego. If it wasn't so much , way more people would respect and like him im sure. I like the humble type like stockton and steve nash anyday. Basketball is a team sport not a me me me kobe and iverson. Only reason kobe won championships is because phil could control his ego for a few years and have bring in players like shaq and others too and make him get along atleast for a little while until he rats on them or bad mouths them. Even now he's picking couches and firing them left and right. He is that whole teams everything right now and look where there headed and at. Two more years of mediocracy or worse for that team and kobe. When he leaves lakers will be good quickly again. That is if they dont be stupid and let him be in management for the lakers which i defenately see. Maybe even a couch,haha.

Some people don't know this. But in a Kobe interview with Armand Rashard. It was clarified that a 35/36 year old MJ said that a 2nd year Kobe couldn't stop him. Kobe immediately issued a 1 on 1 to MJ's face. Kobe : well you couldn't stop me, cmon lets do this now on this court, I'm suited and booted, we got the shoes. MJ: 'laughs' I like you kid you got guts. And walks away. Not a direct quote btw but the video is somewhere in KZbin. I am surprised that Kobe never mentioned that until a recent interview. I guess you don't bite the hand that paved the way. Do one day maybe someone will challenge Kyrie to. 1 on 1 #thecycle. That's if Kyrie is relevant in his mid 30s.

Ouch this hurts, Laker fan here, I'm in my late 30's. Been watching him since 1996 and cried when he hit 60 points in his last game. I don't even want to leave my room.

I read about Kyrie walking out of MSG and instantly came here. Sad, sad day. Rest in peace Kobe, Gianna, and everyone else lost today.
