An addition to Mistake 1: If you're preparing to abandon a chase, first look to see if you can get rid of a resource. An extra few seconds to force a pallet drop and break is often well worth it, especially early in a match

I honestly find survivor more frustrating. Granted tombs, daily rituals and steam achievements are all important to me, and as killer I can straight up farm most of them as I please. Plus I tend to get more BP for my time and over all killer is just the more fun side of the game. I wonder if there's any affiliation with people who identify as the 'Explorer' player type and people who prefer killer.

Playing as killer is definitely harder but playing as survivor in solo queue is more frustrating most of the time. I've noticed when I play killer I get nothing but prestige 10+ almost every game but when I play survivor I'm constantly stuck with new players that have no idea how to play or are just dumb af

I'm gonna make an amendment to the toxicity rule. If you're getting frustrated do not feel bad for putting the game down. Your prefrontal cortex literally starts to shut down when you become agitated. That's the area where complex decision making happens. Learn stress reduction techniques so you can handle both toxicity and really tough matches in general. However, if you're feeling tilted then you very literally will not be thinking clearly, and you will make more mistakes, and you will get more agitated. If you can't take a breath and GG go next, then take a break. The game will be there when you're feeling better. GLHF in your next everyone!

28 is so crucial. I cannot stress how important thinking of your three gen is. There are maps where the three gen is so strong that I’ve had survivors just walk up and ask to be stabbed; they know there’s absolutely no way to win at that point. On Hag in particular, a good three gen makes you effectively invincible. 🐀

I was about to comment about it. I'm surprised that content creators don't mention 3 gens in their gameplay, when they're almost always doing 4ks with 1 gen left at 80% or so. And because everybody says 3 gen camping is toxic, I just stopped focusing on them and I'm always losing because of it.

One thing that I personally think helps too is trying to not focus too hard on what the meta perks or builds are when you're starting off. If you just look at a guide for whatever the meta for the killer you want to play is before you get a good feel for all the other perks will only stunt your creativity in the long run since you learn A LOT from experimenting with builds and low mmr will probably mean you don't need to sweat every game. This also leaves you with tons of creativity later on that can be used to create wacky "Not optimal but fun" builds that you can play when you want to take a rest from the sweatfest.

It depends on the survivors. If theyre good youre going to lose, if they arent good youll get a draw-win. Usually i start with juggeling and see how its going. If ive got 1 survivor on death hook and another hooked and were still at 4 or 5 gens ill chase someone else. When 2 gens are left someones got to go. If were at 1 gen and im on my first hook, time to set up the tent.

Great and helpful list! However, I disagree on a few things: -Camping and tunneling: I wouldn’t say camping and tunneling are a mistake, they’re situational: you can either make the smartest or the dumbest play by doing so. I mean, the game is not balanced and most of the times getting mixed hooks will lead the killer to a loss if the survivors are good enough, all that matters are kills…which is kinda sad. I do agree that Lightborn is a meme perk and it’s not worth a perk slot, but Franklin’s demise is actually useful on certain killers (like Hag) and it helps countering busted items like med kits, About Noed, it’s a 50/50. People either use Noed as a crutch perk (which is wrong and will actually make improving as a killer harder like you said) or because it’s necessary on certain killers (they know how to play and they’re experienced) . Using Noed on Sadako, Wraith and all the weak killers is a good thing to compensate for all their weaknesses, that’s the sad truth: some killers need Noed to stand a chance against good survivors and it makes sense from a winning point of view. Just make sure it doesn’t hurt your progresses to become a better killer.

Something to add to your tip about perks is to follow a general rule, two slowdown, one info and one utility perk. For example, Jolt, Sloppy Butcher, Bitter Murmur and Shattered Hope. Every Killer has different needs, but this is the most basic build and perks I can give. I see far too many Killers stack 4 slowdown on Huntress and have no idea where anybody is, or 4 info perks on Hag lol. It's important to have a diverse build with built in synergy.

@@CrazyHookDBD They don't. You can't kick gens that are already regressing and Ruin automatically begins regressings gens that aren't being worked on. So Ruin pretty much disables those perks. Same with Surge and Pain Res. Overbrine + Enduring + Spirit Fury or Overbrine + Bamboozle + Brutal Strength is the way to go for M1 killers. Maybe Brutal Strength + Corrupt Intervention if you want to force the early game hook but Overbrine is a good combo on most killers. Less useful on high mobility killers that rely on constant speed and chasing to keep their pressure up, can't be taking the time to go kick gens every time.

29 IS SO TRUE THO! I only started to play DBD because I watched KZbinrs play killers. When I started, was of course unranked going against similar but more experienced people. Yet I had watched these expert killers and their tactics, and I would use those tactics in the early levels I absolutely crushed every game I was in. Of course now it’s not always the case, rank has climbed and match making is SOMEWHAT more balanced but yeah.

When I was just a few hours into the game, I was facing a survivor that kept following me and flashing me every time I picked up a survivor, however they were too good at chases for me to catch them. At the end when everyone else escaped, she t-bagged me and I managed to knock her down and grab her. Still my most satisfying moment to this day.

9:09 great tip. Theres also a small mind game you can do where you go left like youre going to go around, then go back right like youre going to go that way then kick the pallet. Honestly, if there is one thing I can say is that the killer perk Whispers is a godsend if you want the information in maps. Using Whispers will tell you when a survivor is close to you, and in most cases if you know the layout of some maps, can practically pinpoint a survivors location. Pairing it with Iron Maiden will allow you to not only corner survivors, but prevent them from hiding in lockers, lest they give away their location and become exposed. The other great thing about it is that it is by far the best perk on doctor (As well as distressing) as it can tell you when its a good time to fire of your static blast.

I figured from the videos where you could find the centre of screen, the wind-up time, etc. The results? I averaged around 7 hooks almost immediately after watching the gameplays. So yeah, watch other content creators and ffs don‘t let the frustration get into you. Good players didn‘t cry and whine from their mistakes, they learned and got good.

I know this is an older video but another HUGE thing is NOT MEMORIZING HOOK LOCATIONS. yes, you see their outline when you're carrying. But they won't show if you're right next to them even if separated by a wall, and on some maps they can be hard to spot. Remember where they are to minimize time spent carrying, reduce chances of them wiggling free, and if you see someone saboing the hook you're going to, you can turn right to a hook you know is nearby instead.

I think the message got switched halfway through. At first it seemed that the tips were on how to win games, like "Dont use your power if you can m1", but then later it switched to "don't camp or tunnel or use crutch perks because even if you win, you won't be improving as much". Its just a bit confusing, thats all.

After fully watching the video 🦍: A couple things that are very suggestive as tips-> "Not bringing franklins" i understand one should learn to face items however if you see the survivors all have 4 med kits or 4 toolboxes its a very very useful perk to have for it can just either prevent a heal, stop some fast gen progression etc. "Dont lose your 3 gen" i agree with this however not the way you said it, for Killers like Trapper and Hag should be prioritizing defending their 3 gen IMMEDIATELY on starting the game, their web or parameter they set up is their only power not going for this immediately causes them to have a extremely difficult time, they don't play like other killers they set up thats what they should do instantly. "Not tunneling or camping" This is the most EFFECTIVE strategy in the game for a reason, to discourage this is just trying to be nice. Even when people knowingly have reassurance which is rare now a days they almost never use it efficiently and go for unhooks even after using it. And when it comes to tunneling if survivors are forcibly blocking and trying to prevent you from downing this person all this does is mean even more survivors are not doing gens. But if you do get that person downed its a 3v1 and the game becomes DRASTICALLY more in your favor, so you should take any opportunity that presents itself to get a survivor out of a match as SOON as possible to not do that is a detriment.

I may not be good; but I find that when people try 180/360ing you, backing up instead of standing still, while looking works better. This allows you to immediately make space once you spot them and it puts you back across from them so they can't abuse your fov without first closing the gap, which you're hopefully either capitalizing on or widening for more control. This lessens the effect of skill level and sensitivity too by widening your margin of error

As a killer main i strongly disagree with the term "crutch perks" BHVR does nothing but buff survivors every update. I believe as a killer if something is working for you and is fun for you then keep using it. Also with the recent buff to Renatos perk (with the 200% speed boost when killer is picking up) Flashlight saves are increasingly harder to counter especiall when the survivor is using a suped up one (which they should always be doing because anything lower than a green with top addons is garbage) Long story short, survivors deserve no leniency in your play style as a killer, use everything you can to keep the game to your advantage.

Some of these pieces of advice are good, but I also think some of these are quite situational. Various perks make some of these pieces of advice quite moot. Like bamboozle for vaulting, or kicking gens for things like eruption, etc. And the advice about not using M2 too much... Eh? I think for new killers, they should try to use it as much as possible. You may lose games a bit more, but there's only one way to get better. Particularly if the killer has particularly difficult M2 abilities, like Nurse, Spirit, Blight, etc.

I'm new to DbD, and plaher trapper and wraith. When surviors start to tea bag and, fake disarm my traps in front of me. It makes me move some of my traps into bushes and tall grass near the bait traps, then I position myself in a way so that when I start to chase them they are getting pushed near me kill traps. All while weaving around my bait. I had a 4 man flashlight team last night that was bming the whole time. I ended up getting all of them because they were so focused on being bm they didn't do generators. I will say as a new trapper the best part about him is if you have a dead zone, kill zone, bait lines, and 3 generators near each other. You basically win.

The biggest tip is to hook camp because it’s quicker and more efficient to just wait for the survivors to come to you rather than start after them when they have a 5,000 mile lead on you and will just keep running into oblivion

I’m actually a fan of Lightborn. I like playing mind games with survivors and making them think I don’t have it by looking away from the flashlights. I’ve waste at least 40+ seconds of survivor time by tricking them. And I’ve gotten many kills by folks just standing there.

I'm new to the game, and I followed your tip to patrol the three gens that are close when I was playing Nurse on the Hawkins Lab map. Had three gens that even Nurse could patrol very easily at the end (one by the exit, one down the hall at the corner, and one in a nearby room to the exit). I didn't even force them to these gens; it's just what they ended up with. After extending the match by literally 20 minutes on those three gens, I got tired of waiting and ended up killing the 2nd to last person. Last person got away through the exit on the far side. In the chat after the game, they accused me of "camping gens" and were really mad at me. Did I do something I shouldn't have? Or were they just mad that the game took so long?

As someone who IS a survivor main but also plays killer, I whole heartedly disagree with your take on LightBorn. Sure, flash lights are counterable. But I couldn't tell you the amount of survivors I've downed or killed because they kept trying to flashlight me while I have LightBorn. Not only does it protect you from being blinded, and dropping a survivor you just picked up. But it also reveals the aura of the survivor who tried blinding you. I don't ALWAYS get value out it, but it IS a very handy tool IMO

3:18 Had this happen to me yesterday. Was playing for awhile and was kind of tired at that point since I was trying to get to Iri 1 all night, but I was getting constant 4ks with Knight and was feeling confident. Sadly the tiredness paired with the confidence led me to kind of turning off my brain that match and getting no kills. So piece of advice: do not continue playing even while you are tired or frustrated as it will only hurt your gameplay. Even taking a short nap before getting back on is good enough.

I find it so hard to get over the frustration of toxic players. But if I'm being honest, it's helped me progress through the game. I remember on the first day I started playing DBD this one guy took it so far with the toxicity that he DM'd me calling me trash and saying that I should delete the game immediately but unfortunately that's not the first time it's happened to me. I just wanna say to never let these people get to you. Because nothing they say is true and they are just there to piss you off for their own selfish reasons.

Yes, people would have discovered meta/meme builds and min/max strategies on their own, but the info would not spread like wildfire with everyone trying to immediately copy it.

I don’t know if you said these but I’ll say them I will also mix Survivor and killer tips. 1. (Beginner killers) If you down a survivor and put them on the hook don’t camp that hook till they die. if you wait out the entities progression is way slower instead go find other survivors so about time that survivor that was on the hook is off the hook you already downed another survivor(get the catch?) 2. (Beginner survivors) if you’re working on a gen by yourself always listen carefully for the terror radius or the heartbeats if the Terror radius is at a 12 or 24 RUN away. Same thing with working on a GEN with another survivor. 3. (Experienced killers) as you get better at the game you will start to notice survivors trying to loop/360 you you’ll know when you see it. So I suggest turning your sensitivity to at least 90 or 95 practice in custom game mode so it gets easier for you 4. (Experienced survivors) instead of looking in front of you while running from the killer always try to balance looking behind you in front of you to know where to go next. 5. (Advanced killers) whenever you spawn you always wanna look to the closest generator cause survivors that have experience will always know if you see them or not. 6. (Advanced survivors) know when it comes to looping or 360’ing you have to be patient with both of them The best places to loop a killer is T&L walls and shacks(further noticed on videos) now on 360’ing do you want to turn your sensitivity in my opinion at least 90 or 95 (further notice in videos) And the last and final two tips (Long time killers and survivors) 7. For killer you should know how to mind game shack 10 hours and tight pallets by now 8. For survivors The main goal for survivors is to play with the killers mind Now for some of these tips I can’t explain well so you’ll have to use videos but I hope some of these helped you🎉🎉

Wanna get better at killer?play some survivor Wanna get better at survivor?play some killer aswell The point is,if you're new to the game, that at some point you will see equally talented players on whichever side you play on,copy and paste whatever good strategy, moves or loops survivors were doing against you,or whatever new killer tricks you've seen Also, take time to familiarize yourself with perks and addons,in the end game chat, observe and learn all of the stuff the player brought...,so many time I see players who, should have tons of experience, and are completely oblivious to how some perks work,I had this friend a p100 who didn't even understand how ruin really worked, she kept saying oh he kicked the gen with ruin, like girl no thats not how it work So do yourself a favor

Camping is actually useful only in one scenario: hooked survivor has 5 to maybe 15 seconds left on hook so it's just better for you to camp him out, secure the stage/kill and move on. And tunneling i see kinda pointless, even on killers like Pyramid head. Like... If you have an urge to remove someone from the game ASAP - that means this survivor is good at looping. And it will be more beneficial to just ignore that exact guy and eliminate others. He's not going anywhere if he'll have only one teammate remaining and 3+ gens to work on :) About toxicity... I was really mad about troll squads back in the days. That was before i understood that toxic swfs are here for the other reason. They don't want to fix gens. They want to get your emotional reaction. Means they actually don't do gens most of the time or have like 1 guy on it. And that gives you, the killer, the most valuable resource you can have - time. Just drop the toxics and find that one who does gens. Tunnel him out fast. And the rest won't be able to do shit by and large.

As a multi-iri 1 XP killer... #26 and #27 is asinine. This will be a little long, but I insist if you're REALLY trying to push the ranks. If you're up against a bully squad of 4 flashlighters, or if you're looking at a lobby and have a sort of intuition that they're going to switch to a flashlight loadout at the last second before the game starts, absolutely 100% put on that lightborn otherwise you are just going to have a really fucked up day and will feel like going Vader on their children, and if you think they're also gonna be a bodyblocking squad when its only been a minute into the game, put on the mad grit + Agitation + Iron Grasp build and punish them, you'll have no gen pressure but if all they're doing is trying to bully you but you're still good at winning loops, they're gonna be sorry. It's not about trying to get better without such perks, it's about not even needing to make shit more stressful for yourself if you're able to avoid it. Seriously. Why put yourself through that? Power to you if you're good with facing a structure when picking up a survivor, I am myself, but there's squads out there who leave the killer no choice but to down them in the wide open with your dick flopping out and I sometimes won't take that risk. If there's more than 1 flashlight in a lobby, put on LB preferably replacing it with the weakest perk of w/e current build you're using. As for camping & tunneling, this depends on many things such as what Killer you're playing, how much map pressure you have put into the match already or not. If you hook a survivor in a pretty solid 3-gen area, and you're playing a Killer that can down in 1 hit in any way, camp it. Now when a survivor that just got unhooked is just sticking around and stroking their shit in front of you for w/e reason or they're just an easier target for you to hit for that time being because everyone else scurried, tunnel them. The best killer that is actually very beneficial to tunnel with is Pinhead when using what I call, the pog-box build. For when you find your box, it instantly chains all survivors and starts a chain hunt. With the 2 addons that increase box-solving time by 3 seconds total so that you have time to go find the carrier and down them, and start another chain hunt. Just chain hunt after chain hunt after chain hunt and there's nothing they can do about it, though it is the highest skillcap way to play Pinhead because its a matter of having an idea of where your box spawns throughout the game, or if a survivor gets to it, able to down them as quickly as possible to start another chain hunt. This is the Way.

1. Don't chase survivors leading you on, they are wasting your time on purpose 2. Prioritize chasing instead of kicking gens 3. Don't chase the outside of TL walls 4. Don't vault TL walls 5. Don't use your power if you can just hit a survivor 6. Pay attention to how your perks fit your specific killer 7. Pay attention and don't mindlessly hold W 8. Don't do the same thing over and over again 9. Pay attention to survivor perks 10. ditto 11. Prioritize killing low skill level survivors first 12. Don't leave survivors on the floor unless you have a really good reason too (like there being a bunch of other survivors there) 13. Don't care about pallets, just walk through them 14. Don't try to trick survivors in loops where they can clearly see you 15. Learn the killer to take full advantage of their power 16. Start with easy to learn killers 17. Don't hit survivors with dead hard (kinda goes into point 9,10) 18. Don't turn after a survivor who is trying to 360 you 19. Loop pallets so the survivor ends up on the side which would be hardest for them to escape from when they drop it 20. Break pallets so the survivor ends up on the side which would be hardest for them to escape from 21. Don't break doors that will open loops for survivors 22. Don't stop chases to destroy totems 23. Don't get stuck in infinite loops 24. Body block pallets and windows 25. Don't waste time patrolling gens that are hard to get to 26. Don't use lightborn, no one escapes death or franklings demise perks (lmao) 27. Don't camp for no reason 28. Pick 3 generators that are close to each other and patrol them instead of generators far away from each other 29. Learn from others 30. Don't get frustrated

@KytoYT i would say for tip #1, more like if you cant get a hit within 20 seconds, then move on. 45 seconds might be enough for a Gen Rush squad to get some Gens done, if you can get a hit within 15 its good since unless they have a medkit you can provide slowdown to bring them to a halt.

Even they pro player or not cause if you chase that survivor you can hook them. But if you chase the survivor who do gen you get them hook and also stop one survivor from doing gen.
