The build quality of fortuner is really amazing. I also had an incident with fortuner, it was 2014 model and we were 7 people in the car. The accident happened at eastern peripheral highway and speed was 130km/hr. Suddenly an i20 car overtakes and applied brake. I also applied brake, but the car got disbalanced, hit a pole and toppled 3-4 times and stand in the centre of highway. But by the grace of God no serious casuality happened, all of my friends survive with some minor injuries. But I felt sorry for the car, because it went in total loss. 😞.

Learning for everyone- in the area of MP or anywhere else, even if the speed limit is 100kmph , may be better to restrict it to 80 kph or even lesser for areas one can see cattle or looks to be crowded. The place is Malthone, MP-UP border. Glad you survived. Always risky on MP roads because of the cattle. Just stay healthy and drive safe. Just to let you know, I have had close shaves on this highway between Narsinghpur and Lalitpur atleast 3 times. But I survived because I was driving at a speed between 80-100 on all 3 occasions.

A lot of people don't understand that a small deer can do a bigger damage to a car at high speeds. You hit a cow so this was expected. Great to see that locals were helpful but also sad to see a few low lives trying to scam you which you didn't fall for which is very difficult to do in the mental state you were in. I've driven roughly 3,20,000 kms on the US highways and over the time I realized to always keep some things in the car while going on a long drive. Few things to always keep in the car that helps greatly during an accident: 1) Car escape tool (Seat belt cutter and window glass breaker): this should not be kept in the glove box and must be mounted at clear sight away from the airbag zones. Sometimes after an accident like this, seat belt gets stuck and the doors dont open and you have to cut the seat belt and break the window glass to get out of the car. 2) First aid kit: again mounted where it's easily accessible. 3) roadside inflatable cones and warning lights: So that you can clearly warn oncoming traffic until you can get help and remove your car from the road. This was daytime but at night this would be an even worse situation. 4) emergency aluminum blanket to keep you warm if it's cold outside. 5) duct tape: If there is a minor accident for example the bonnet cover is not closing, you can tape it so that you can drive it to the repair shop. 6) emergency backpack: Should contain cash, torch, cellphone charger, clothes, sandals/slippers, energy bars and water. Of course there are many more things that you can keep but these 6 things don't take much room and the first two items are absolutely essential in a serious accident. Better preparedness can be the difference between living and dying.
