The thing abt kyuhyun is, he was always sure about what kind of singer wants to be. There’s this certain sound he loves that he wants to be known for and there’s this “greed” of mastering of his craft that I feel from him and that side of him is very “artist” like. It is quite interesting knowing he started his career and made his name as an idol who tend to focus on popular sound. This contrast of him between an idol and a ballad singer is interesting indeed but then again he has such an interesting course of career esp when you follow his route from idol life to musical actor and finally to variety personality and ballad singer and he is the guy who currently juggle and thrive in 4 of those activities simultaneously

Agreed with you about how he recreate the ballad again and again. I realized it from many of At Gwanghwamun live stages, he indeed showed that almost all of them have a slight different sounds and that what's made it beautiful.

I think that all of his KOMS are pretty much unmissable, he really had the most fantastic choice of songs on that show. Both the first time where he got eliminated (his Wildflower cover is soooo good) and this time as Genie where he won several rounds. Another great performance of his is a duet with Sunhee called Fate (you can find the full version on youtube). There is this cover of a song called A Flower That Didn't Bloom which is also sooooo good I highly rec it. Solo song wise I think you really need to check out his 7 years love, the story-telling on that one is amazing just make sure you have the subs. The day we felt the distance is a another great track. The Moment My Heart Flinched is an OST but it's FANTASTIC and charted very well too.

Thanks for the surprise reaction on my fav SJ member. I hv posted the rest of his KOMS songs in the comment section of one of yr SJ reaction video. 😅 hope you enjoyed the rest of his KOMS performance. He won in every single appearance, 5x until Y Si Fuera Ella where he lost 🥺. Not only he won but he was the 1st Male Idol to win KOMS. Best is he won the titles just after he was discharged from his military service n returned to civilian and idol life. His presentation style in KOMS was so different for each of the songs he sang so different from the way he usually sang for his commercial albums so unique so that one of the judges (who’s a renown song-writer) commented that Kyuhyun set the bar and standard for ballad singing, n true enough , everyone that sang ballad songs it was in the “mould” & style of Kyuhyun. I don’t mean to sound vain n braggart but it’s true. You won’t get to listen to the judges comment in those YT vids , u need to watch the whole program.

[Edit- I was wrong! He does have a few!] Unfortunately, Kyu doesn't have any songs out that were composed or written even partially by him. Except for the Seven Knights promo. He tried, but he said it just wasn't for him, lol. Aw, I hope you watched the rest of that video for Whale Hunting, because the best parts are in the back half. I absolutely love his immortal songs performances, but my favorite one is the "Etude of Memories" performance. It's epic with a string ensemble (his actual sister is the solo violinist) and he was just on his A game.
