I've neve seen this video before, great stuff but I did see Kyuss on this tour in I wanna say August 1995, same lineup, same light show. It was at the Empty Bottle in Chicago on a Wednesday night with maybe 100 people there but it was fucking awesome. They kicked my ass big time.

@Micaelas No, you didn't. Kyuss broke up in 1995. The band you saw features only one person playing in this video. I think it's a pain to listen to Kyuss Lives! ... sounds nothing like the late Kyuss did sound... how could it, there is no Hernandez, no Reeder and no Homme.

@Kyussist Agree totally. Almost didn't see them until I found out Reeder was playing (Toronto). Great show and I had a great time but without Scott, it would have been lacking some much needed "authenticity" if you will. Thanks for posting all you do Kyussist, this is some rare shit indeed

Why would i care about who was where at what time ? My point is simply that Reeder is an amazing and unique bassplayer, and Nick isn't. I like his work, i love the first Mondo LP, but he simply isnt anything near Reeder when it is about playing the instrument. This is music, isn't it ?

@Kyussist Kyuss Lives has 3/4 of the Blues for the Red Sun lineup, which was their best album. Also, the guy they replaced Josh with is getting progressively better. Plus, they occasionally bring out Scott Reeder, and even Mario Lalli once.

@Micaelas Yep, sorry if i sounded angry... i just don't want that cover band to be called Kyuss. To me the special thing about Kyuss is the dynamic and the character of their ensemble play, and especially Scott Reeder and Joshua Homme are instrumentalists which aren't replacable. Oliveri's plektron can't replace Scott's fingers and honestly, when Bruno plays Josh's riffs its not Kyuss. There is nothing wrong about it all, just the essence of Kyuss isn't there... imo.

you do realize one can comment and listen at the same time yes? :).
@custard50001112 жыл бұрын
I partly agree. Josh Hommes' guitar work is unmatchable. Bruno is good but doesn't quite have the natural flow that Josh had. But Brant and Nick were is kyuss from the very beginning. Brant all the way up until Circus. So id consider Brant part of the original lineup. Also i love how he plays, so much charisma. Nick was only up till Sky Valley so... i don't know. He played on what on consider one of the big two. Consisting of Blues for the Red Sun and Sky Valley. I think that makes him good.
@Patson4310 жыл бұрын
Brant Bjork needs to be up in that.. Fredo held on good, but it ain't Kyuss without the bros.

Brant is the original and will always be, but he had/has his own thing going on. Fredo laid the foundation on 'Circus' and to me, that album signalled greater things to come, especially the Catamaran cover. Fredo's drumming style was the future of Kyuss to me.

Nick is actually a pretty damn good bassist or did you not listen to Blues for the Red Sun ? That being said I agree Reeder is an amazing bassist. I dont think he is that unique. I agree Reeder is a better bassist, but Nick isnt a slouch on the instrument and did great work with Kyuss and QOTSA and was a big part of both so again I think your comment is just pure stupidity.
