Great video! Thanks for the Review! Love the Idex! The Kyoo Tycoon looks pretty solid! I am having fun with my IDEX that I just got as well. Definitely a learning curve but so much fun! Keep it up!

Great Video Dude. Im a beginner with an anycubic Vyper around 8 months in use. Software side would be no problem to handle. But would you recommend this one to me as i am looking for an easy printer out of the box? Im at search for an easy IDEX printer.

Out of the box I was impressed how easy everything was. 8 months of printing this is easily in your wheelhouse.

Is this printer silent when printing? I’d like something much quieter than my Voxelab Aquila… Thanks for the review btw!
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup 2 жыл бұрын
The one I tested was silent except for the extruder. Kywoo3d says they now ship silent in that as well.

Thnx for this review. I want to buy an idex 3d printer and always thought Flashforge Creator Pro 2 was the one i need. Now i don't know anymore. Any advise? I love the auto level and the much bigger build plate. I don;t need a closed unit. So print quality is most important for me. I thought 2 colour would be possible without an ooze shield on idex printers but that's not what i see in your review.
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup 2 жыл бұрын
You may be confusing an ooze shield with a purge block. Oooze shields are just 1 nozzle width wide designed to do a wipe right before printing that layer. Purge blocks are often what you see with printers that have only one nozzle and waste a lot of material. You can certainly do two color without an ooze Shield but IMHO the best performance and quality will come from using one. In fairness I didnt spend days dialing in a profile without one and the oooze sheild was an easy solve to the color bleeding problem. Like any printer most of the print quality is going to come from the slicer settings not the printer itself. CHEP's channel covers this in great detail. I've not used the flashforge creator pro so I can't fairly compare that to this printer but from what I have seen on KZbin the Creator Pro seems to have non-silent stepper drivers. This alone would keep me looking for a printer that has silent stepper drivers (like the Tycoon). If you have ever had a printer without them you know how annoying that sound can be long term. :) The non-silent drivers also affects print quality as I pointed out in this video. So I would expect to see the same onion skin on the FFP. Seeing the spool holders on the back of the printer would also make me crazy as I frequently don't have the ability to easily get behind my printers. Neither of those may be a big deal for you and the price of the FFP is a bit cheaper. The FFP is open source based as well so that could be equally upgradeable. I think the Tycoon though gives you a lot of features OOTB and an upgrade to it would be unnecessary unless you want improved grip on the filament. Hope this helps your decision making process. Let me know if you have any other questions. Glad to help any way I can.

@@MakersMashup thank you again. I have the Anet ET4 and never used a purge block or a shield. I was confused indeed. I think I go for the Tycoon. Offcourse I want a new version. I got the idea they are frequently updating the hardware and the version you get depends on the warehouse. I am from the Netherlands and right now it's not in stock. Hope that is a good sign. I will ask the dealer before I order.

Update Firmware pleased. Dont buy this idex. Firmware is a Nightmare!
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup 7 ай бұрын
Its pretty standard Marlin along with an MKS Robin mainboard. You can download source from their website and customize as you need. If your beef is with Marlin you should probably direct it to them. This printer can be upgraded to use Klipper.

It uses an MKS Robin board. I had mine configured and working with Klipper just had to map the stepper directions and revolutions'. Following the klipper guide is probably your best bet.

Did someone managed to add this IDEX to cura 5.0.0? I mean, can i create a dummy printer and take the infos from cura 4.11.0 to setup. Is there maybe any guide?

Very good video! I have the printer myself, but it looks like the second extrudor isn't at the same hight as the main extrudor. Do you know how to fix this?
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup Жыл бұрын
Two ways to fix that. You can physically adjust the nozzle, IIRC they use the nozzles that can adjust height by a grub screw. or the better way is to simply use M218 in Marlin to adjust the offset for the second toolhead. marlinfw.org/docs/gcode/M218.html is the docs for Marlin which covers how to use the command. You want it for the second toolhead. I think their interface also may let you adjust this from the LCD, but you may need a firmware upgrade. M218 will work perfect if you have octoprint or pronterface hooked to the printer, just go to the terminal and adjust. Good luck!

Anyone set up Octoprint with it yet by chance?
@MakersMashup
@MakersMashup 2 жыл бұрын
I have octoprint running this printer along with 6 others. Works just fine with Octoprint. All the dual nozzle functions are in the slicer. Octoprint does have a multiple nozzle setting so you can heat each one independently.
