I own the Aria and I would recommend the iBasso IT00 at that price range. The BLON BL-01 has a similar sound signature, but I don't own that pair, so I can't really speak too much about whether it'll satisfy your "bass cravings" or not. Fitment on the BL-01 might be an issue too. Another recommendation is the Moondrop SSP with the vent tape mod for increased bass, but IMO the bass gets distorted too much to my liking when modded this way. The clarity of the rest of the FR is still good, though. Also try narrow-bore, deep insert tips on your Aria, it can improve the bass slam and quantity by a decent amount.

@@VortexReviews1 I eventually got use to the sound, the sub bass really brings certain songs to life while other songs with more mid bass feel a little off. My main problem is the fin they added to the earbud body. It just presses into my ear at the worst spot possible and It gets painful after a while. It 100% comes down to the shape of your ear and preference for sound for these. For me the basic shape of the ZEX is better suited to my ear and the mid bass fits more songs in my genre of listening. Also the Zex are easier to drive compared to the ZEX Pro. The extra driver must use more power.

Currently I have BLON BL-03 which is PERSONALLY TWEAKED to be less V-shaped, less boom bassy, less recessed mids. Cleaner sound. My BLON BL-03 is currently use with custom eq settings and Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC they still sound warm but not too warm like they use to out of the box. Bass is now consistent and less boomy. I heard these are quite a sensitive set. How do I identify the sensitivity in an iem?
@VortexReviews13 жыл бұрын
The actual specs and peoples impressions on different gear.
@thepixelwizard013 жыл бұрын
@Jonah The Db (decibel) value of a set is its sensitivity. How much power it requires actually depends on sensitivity more than the resistance which is represented in ohms. Anything over 100db is quite sensitive and with a BA driver if you connect a sensitive set to a powerful amp you get hissing. Too much power and you would kill the driver. The specs on this one suggests that it won't need an amp/dongle dac and sound good off of a smartphone
@clown_hamster3 жыл бұрын
I see, thank you for the explanation. At what value do I need to use a dac or dongle dac? Below 90db?
@thepixelwizard013 жыл бұрын
@@clown_hamster say an iem that's 95 db & 32 ohms would see some modest gain with an dongle DAC like Shanking UA2 or the Abigail (which outputs 2 volts RMS I think). But this depends on each earphone. The Tanchjim Tanya and Rock Obsidian are two cheaper ones that gain significantly from a dongle or a DAP. The biggest gains come generally in dynamic driver iems and especially earbuds (like the VE Monk Lite 120ohms). The DAC chip itself might improve the sound even in sensitive iems by doing one of the following : Adding warmth, tightening the bass, increasing the size of the sound stage, improving instrument separation etc. I've generally found earbuds to gain more from a dongle dac than iems. For an iem I would look at a clean source that can output atleast 24 bit 96khz files (let's say the 3.5mm audio jack of a decent gaming laptop). But a cheap dongle can give one benefit even to a high end laptop that outputs signal from a 3.5mm jack - lack of signal noise. If you are hearing crackles when someone switches off a light nearby when listening on iems from a device that's because 3.5mm out isn't particularly clean. The USB-C is free of such interference and can transmit digital information without being colored by the internals of that device. This was a pretty specific example but I hope this helps 👍
