In a practical 1950-70 circuit using EABC80 C3 can usefullly be 4u7 250V non polar polyester. The stress on this part can be high. 5 uF 63V polar electrolytic is typical. This seems to enhance sound in HF audio. Size usually OK.

RFC choke L3 is close coupled to L1. It has a 90 degree phase shift I believe. 1954 and new EABC80 was it's introduction. DC to AVC a problem.

Hello I am trying to isolate a problem with a Grundig FM RADIO. I think the AFC diode is leaky because when I disconnected it the voltage output from the ratio detector will balance. I will try replacing it or leaving it disconnected and see if it behaves like a ratio detector. Something is causing the negative going diode voltage to be too low until I disconnected the AFC diode
