I’m a huge Raiders fan they blew it this year they should’ve beat the patriots and when the Bears play the Raiders in 85 they said that was the hardest hitting football game in NFL history I said just imagine what the Super Bowl would’ve been like..

That game was in 1984 but yes... the Raiders should've beaten the lucky Pats and would've likely beaten Marino and the Dolphins in the Orange in the AFCCG as well to meet back up with the Bears @ SB 20.

LOL - 1) Weather was chilly and wet but 2) in general Atlanta is one of those towns where many people are from elsewhere and don't have the passion for the local team. You also saw it with the Braves, Hawks and you saw it when they had the Thrashers. Also some of the stadiums and arenas were in "scary" neighborhoods according to some fans.

Falcons drafted all that talent and yet, had consistently bad seasons during this era. Marion Campbell came on board as Defensive Coordinator, and in 1986, the defense tightened up.

The sad thing is that the Raiders drafted ahead of the Dolphins the year Miami got Dan Marino. Imagine the Raiders of that time with both Marino and Marcus Allen in the same backfield. Yeah, Wilson was a bust, and his poor play, particularly against New England in the playoff, likely cost the Raiders a Superbowl appearance that year.
