I'm overjoyed to find this. Will someone please transfer the whole excerpts recording? I think we need a genuine comic in this role. There is a short excerpt on youTube with him speaking French in a film with Joan Sims as a Devonshire? bar-maid. We need a comic to contrast with the romantic scenes. You have to have the comedy in your heart or it may not register with the audience. (In the latest travesty Bridaine can't really act old "J'étais l'abbé Bridaine". He loses his dignity by dancing in dancing pumps. The Governor (usually a serious role? See Tourcoing on youTube. Good production but bad picture) tries to outwit him in the comedy stakes. I don't feel he succeeds. If only we'd seen Duvaleix in the role. I'm an actor/singer/light comic.
