I'm just listening to this magic performance of one of my top favourite 6part pieces - in a bar at the Simplon / Sempione pass with soldiers from the Romande area of Switzerland discussing problems with their radio in very loud voices getting through my headphones. A very beautiful fancy for six viols written by Gibbons, who died brutally during a travel while he was still relatively young. We missed masterworks !!!!

A massive brain hemorrhage, if I recall correctly. The case was highly unusual in that the monarch (Charles I?) suspected it might be a case of poisoning, and ordered a formal autopsy, which was something quite rare in that period.
