Ludwig van Beethoven's Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph II, WoO 87 is a cantata with a libretto by Severin Anton Averdonk (1768-1817), written in 1790 and intended for a memorial service for Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor to be held in Bonn. Composed when Beethoven was nineteen, it was neither published, nor apparently performed until it premiered in Vienna in November 1884, fifty-seven years after Beethoven's death, and it was first printed in an 1888 supplement to the Complete Works. It remains one of Beethoven's lesser-known works.

E' un pezzo pazzesco, di maturità sbalorditiva e pieno di idee visionarie. Non mi sembra molto eseguito e mi sembra scandaloso.

@@rossanopinelli5150 purtroppo accade ancora questo e non con Sollazzi, con Beethoven. Io ormai tendo a scindere esecuzioni e brano. Ho ascoltato un Allegretto della Settima incomprensibile, senza anima, colori. Se lo avessi ascoltato così a suo tempo (8/9 anni) non avrei mai capito la incommensurabile profondità nella semplicità. E pensare che egli si ripeteva sempre:"più semplice, più semplice ". Sai che non riesco più a suonare Beethoven perché non mi soddisfano più suono, tocco, fraseggio, stacco dei tempi. Preferisco leggermi la partitura. Addirittura non mi soddisfano più esecuzioni che ritenevo eccellenti. Ed è un guaio. Ascolto, ma mi accontento. E parlo di Karajan, Abbado, Furtwaengler, Toscanini, Noseda, Dudamel, Celibidache ecc. Forse, ma forse Kleiber. Sono arrivato alla conclusione che nessuna orchestra e nessun direttore e nessun esecutore sarà mai all'altezza della musica di Ludwig. E questo è un guaio per me, ma un bene per la sua musica e, in fondo, per tutti i compositori compreso me nel mio piccolo.

Wie kann es angehen, dass so ein unmusikalischer, von Technik keine Ahnung- singender Basssolo sowas singen, bzw. aufnehmen darf! Und dann heißt es immer "Beethoven konnte nicht für die Singstimme schreiben". Dies wird bestätigt, wenn man so schlechte Sänger hört, die versuchen Beethoven zu singen. Er hatte Ahnung, wie man für die Singstimme komponiert, v.a. noch in der ersten Schaffensperiode! Und es gibt von dieser Kantate nicht viele Aufnahmen. Ärgerlich!!! Der "Sänger" heult teilweise von unten die Noten an, verkürzt die Silben, seine Tonhöhe ist nicht gut, da er mit Druck singt und die tieferen Töne drückt er ebenfalls aus, wie eine Orange, sodass diese Töne nicht frei schwingen, bzw. nicht in der Resonanz singen; seine Kehle ist nicht offen genug und er denkt nicht in Linien, sondern Ton für Ton...
