If my memory serves well, this song was published on　中等教育唱歌集　in　明治４０年８月,The original name was: Dreaming of Home and Mother which depicted a 新潟 Girls Senior High teacher who wrote the lyrics in reminiscence of his hometown in 熊本県. At that time, it was quite tough and time-consuming for an expatriate to return due to behind-the-times transportation. Once leaving home, (to be continued)

he tended to pine for his mother, as the line goes: 夢路にたどるは、さとの家路. However, I ever heard some young people criticized this song as an out-date, I don't think they deserve all pejoratives the elderly are throwing in those young men's direction, perhaps, in some time, they are likely to outgrow their immature, inconsiderate way of thinking and finally come to see the value of 旅愁.
