Dear Genuine, I cannot thank you enough for uploading these incredibly priceless scenes from "The Dream Of the Red Chamber." I just "discovered" Miss Loh Tih about three days ago while searching through videos of Tong Li. Since then, I've watched as many of these scenes that I can, and have even ordered a DVD of the movie. I was wondering if you, or, anybody else could possibly tell me what the character's name is that's performing along side of Miss Loh Tih, and what the actresses name is? I would really appreciate it!! Miss Loh Tih was a true gift of talent as well as a gift of true beauty. I like to fell over when I learned she passed away in 1968 at 31. What a huge, huge loss. She was incredible.

Dear Mr. Downing , very glad that you just "discovered" Miss Loh Tih . She suddenly passed away of a heart attack at 31 years old , It's indeed a huge , huge loss for Loh Tih's fans. NEE HAO, GENUINEW!! If you only knew how much I thank you for all the extra info on Miss Loh Tih! That is really really appreciated! I am definitely going to check out the two films you spoke about, and will more than likely try to find copies of those and add them to my collection!! She was such a beautiful woman. I wonder what other excellent masterpieces she would of been used in if she had live longer. Even though she died so young, she left the world a good collection of films to enjoy both her immense talent and her gracious beauty! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN, GENUINEW!! Love, peace and respect fro your fellow Loh Tih fan from Oklahoma, USA!!

I sense your genuine sadness for her early passing away. So I initiate to add more information. A lot of people in her era were deeply hurt by her sudden departure, so that to this day some may still cry at the mention of just her name. She was well loved not just for her beauty and acting skills, but also for her character in reality and how she conducted herself in the entertainment world and in her private life. She was born in the month Japan formally invaded China and started a war that led to WWII. In the same month (actually week) her father was killed by Japan's bombing in Shanghai. Not much time to breathe after the war before her family had to move to Hong Kong to escape the oncoming civil war against communism. It didn't help her tragic life that some media portrayed her death as a suicide, somehow attributing it as a consequence of the divorce she went through the year earlier. But she was a strong willed person with a 6 year old daughter at the time, whose custody she had to fight for in the divorce court, at a time when the law for granting a divorce greatly tilted toward the male side. In her movie career, the film 'The Love Eterne' was her pinnacle, but it also marks the beginning of her downfall. (Re-watching it can be a pain for many die-hard fans.) Her Golden Horse best actress award didn't bring her any luck. In those days you are just a low level employee however glamorous an actress you are to the world. You can be sacrificed for peanut financial gains to the greedy bosses. So she just left that movie company, to my greatest admiration.

THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN, Ffan!! The added info you sent me is really a gift!! From the very scant info I found on her from here in the U.S, I was under the impression she committed suicide. I had always heard that in many, many countries that female actresses and singers were paid very poorly back in "the good ol' days". It was really sad that she had to go through the divorce just to have her life to end so shortly afterward, especially after you told me she was just as deeply loved and respected on how she carried herself in her personal life as she did in public. THAT IS RARE TODAY!! As for the statement you made about watching her movie "The Love Eterne" and how painful it is to watch for her truest fans, believe, me my friend, I may have the very same problem watching "The Dream of the Red chamber"!! I am a real softy when it comes to music and movies. After learning about her tragic life, I will really be respecting her acting qualities and extreme beauty with a truly deeper appreciation! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN, MY FRIEND!! All this info you shared with me is beyond kindness!! HAVE A GREAT DAY!! And, as always I bid you and yours all the respect, happiness, honor, kindness, and enjoyment in everything you all do!! Love from Oklahoma, USA!!

Based on what I have read and known from watching several interviews, she indeed committed suicide following a big business failure and also a failed love affair, after her divorce, with another actor. Even today, I am pained to see her at her best in the two movies. She was so beautiful and could have any man she wanted, but life was unfair to her.
