No sir, many of the flows, pockets and rhyme scheme complexity today were not around back then. There weren't as many doubles and triples. Etc. Hip Hop was better by far in my opinion, but it was much simpler. Big Daddy Kane, Eric B and Rakim, Krs One, Public Enemy, De la Soul...GOATS in my opinion. (86 to 91) 90s Mobb Deep, Jay Z, Wu, Big, Pac, Black Rob, Diggable Planets, X Clan, DMX, Pete Rock Cl smooth, Special ED, UMC's, etc etc etc etc. Not as technical as Kendrick, Cole. The speed flows and "choppers" of today were a more of a novelty. You could argue Tech and Em and a few others were around in the 90s, but they weren't doing it like they do today. Hip Hop was a different thing then all together. Especially in the 5 Burroughs of New York. I'm so old I had Gemini turntables before the technique 1200's were the move and still have a couple of milk crates of vinyl. All I'm saying is Hip Hop has evolved, the evolution is not entirely bad minus mumble rap and auto tune, and Kufis is one of the best representations of that evolution my opinion. Just one old guys opinion though. 👌✌

I feel like a lot of hip hop fell off hard starting in the mid 2000's. At least what was getting air play anyway. Then once auto tune became so big, I checked out for awhile and just played stuff from the early 80s through 2003 mostly. Whats beautiful though is we were all told hip hop was a fad and here we are almost 40 years later discussing it and I'm still finding things new to me about it. Even if I don't like or understand alot of what is called hip hop today, I appreciate how long this "fad" has been around. Pleasure talking to you. Be well!
