I’m taking calc for the first time this semester, and as someone who is studying to be a math teacher I find myself becoming more and more critical of my professors and how they choose to teach. I feel like the reason your videos work and many classes do not is the air of judgement carried by many math teachers I have met. In your videos and comments, nobody fears being embarrassed in front of an entire class (which in uni, could be hundreds of people), and the community that follows you genuinely wants to spread helpful information as opposed to having the stack overflow mindset of “figure it out yourself”. Additionally, pretty much every major college class is fated to be mainly lecture in style despite this being an empirically awful way to teach and very ineffective. The only reason we have lectures is because it’s easier for the university or college to schedule in that many people and it is difficult to manage hundreds of people at a time. However, in my opinion this does not excuse the blatant disregard of educational science in an educational institution for the benefit of convenience to the entity. We pay THOUSANDS of dollars to go to school, this is unacceptable. Your videos are different from lectures, even when they become lecture length. They are interactive and straightforward, allowing us to follow along by our own direction or simply just listen to the logic on our own terms and therefore increasing our ability to understand these concepts. Like I said, I am studying to be a teacher and so I find myself thinking of these things more and more. If you are a college student as I am right now, I want you to consider using your voice to your university to insist on better teaching standards for our higher education. It’s sad that professors are memed to be lazy, uncaring, and ineffective. They are literally the last line of education teaching the hardest and most advanced topics, we can’t afford for them to be this way. I have loved this channel forever and recommend it to everyone I meet in school, but it is sad that so many of us feel that our professors are not teaching up to expected caliber of a college professional. There is a lot of talk about student responsibility in college, but this is more and more being used as an excuse to ignore student feedback even when it aligns with what we scientifically know to be true about education. Use your voice.

I think the answer at 55:30 is 4. Because after multiplying 1/x we should multiple the (+1) too . Which will make it (+1/×) . I tried to make sure by solving it in another way and it came 4. But at the end . Thank you so god damn much . Calculas would be hell without you . Every quiz or mid term I come to you
@JensenPlaysMC5 жыл бұрын
nope, you cannot just multiply by 1/x this would change the entire question. if you multiplies 1/x on the numerator aswell, that would be fine

QUESTION: Toward the end he solves limits by creating equations equal to y. Why is he allowed to do this? It feels “wrong”
@ahmackalak75537 жыл бұрын
I have a quick question :) At 45:31, why can you use L'Hopital's rule when you still have an infinity - infinity case in the numerator?
@kgshbteambeasto_o9636 жыл бұрын
My answer would be that since we know x >> ln(x) as x -> infinity. x is much bigger than ln(x) so x^2 - ln(x)^2 will still -> infinity, so it is a infinity/infinity case.
