ABOUT GÉRALDINE
Hi! I’m Géraldine Lepère, the founder of Comme une Française (= “Like a French woman”) and your new French best friend. :)
Each Tuesday, I share a fun, fresh and bite-sized lesson on French language and French culture-from embarrassing mistakes to avoid to pop-cultural references to “get” !
For over five years now, with millions of views and students in over 56 countries, I’ve been helping people just like you gain the confidence to really talk in French. And better than the “textbook” French from high school!

In case you want to know the exceptions in the imperative that she skipped, here is a summary: 1. A small number of third group verbs are conjugated like -er verbs in the present. For example, ouvrir (to open): J'ouvre, tu ouvres, il ouvre, etc. With such verbs, the final 's' is dropped in the imperative, so you would tell a child "Ouvre la bouche." In other words, if it behaves like an -er verb in the present, it behaves like an -er verb in the imperative. 2. Second: Aller is an irregular verb, but it still drops the 's': Tu vas => Va. 3. You put the 's' back in if the imperative is followed by a pronoun that begins with a vowel sound so the resulting group of words is easier to pronounce. Eg. Vas-y sans moi, je suis fatigué. Tu as des difficultés à comprendre? Parles-en au professeur.
