I've been thinking about getting these. I have very limited space in my room, and been looking to actually develop some technique on the congas (especially differentiating between my slap sound and tone). nice and informative.

Thank you. You answered my question, which was about the lp stand for them, it can’t really be anything but rubbish, it’s just not robust enough

Hey Rick thanks for the video! Why wouldn't you use these for recording?
@nhdyz3 жыл бұрын
I own the 11" and i want to buy the 11"-3/4 as well, i'm glad to hear it can go down to G# !! Have you ever tuned-it lower than that? Also; i'm 6'4 and it was a challenge making it work to play standing up. I stack milkcrates and strap my snare stand on it, it does the trick.
@rickdior3 жыл бұрын
Hi Yes you can tune it lower but they start to lose volume the lower they go.

Can you use proximity effect miking to improve the bass in a PA mix?

for live performances do you need to mic them?
@rickdior2 жыл бұрын
I don't use them live but if it is a loud gig where the other members of the band are amplified you would need to mic them. If it is a coffee house probably not.
@paulareid27292 жыл бұрын
Just curious do you think these are as good as Pearl travelling congas?
@rickdior2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paula I have not used the Pearls extensively but the few times I have tried them they seemed fine. Neither are a great substitute for the real thing, but they can sound good if amplified with a microphone.
@paulareid27292 жыл бұрын
@@rickdior thanks heaps. Generally people seem to think the Pearl ones were better but was interested in what you thought. Can you do a comparison video? Totally agree, definitely no substitute but I don’t have a care atm and there might be an occasional time where I’m picked up and too much gear not enough room in car. Would be amplified though. Can you recommend any quality more space efficient alternative? My proper congas are LP galaxies
@rickdior2 жыл бұрын
I don't own the Pearls but if you send me a set I would be willing to do that.

Hey Rick, how much did the conga bracket cost you?
@rickdior3 жыл бұрын
Hi Those are concert snare drum stands that the compact congas are resting on, not a bracket.
@junglsmor2 жыл бұрын
Why wouldnt you record with these
@rickdior2 жыл бұрын
You could use them on a recording but they won't sound as good as a traditional set of congas.
