I do wish people would learn to go straight to the board with these kinds of demos. I want to hear the sound of the pickup, not the sound of the amp and speaker.

I bought the Anthem SL based on this video. The SL uses the same components as the Anthem but the element UST in the SL only comes into play at 250Hz and down. You are able to increase or decrease the amount of microphone by means of a small adjusting screw in the control switch. I find that once you have "dialed-in" the amount of microphone that suits you, you pretty much leave it there. The guys at Baggs had told me the SL was the preferred pickup suitable for most acoustic players and it's less money. If you like the sound of a UST, the Anthem is more flexible and would be the way to go.

Love the Anthem. I had one fitted in my Yamaha LL16M. Great playing and great demo sir

That was a GREAT Demo ...and mirrors my experience with the Baggs Anthem, you get the best of both worlds (mic and UST) in a single PU that takes a standard 1/4" mono Instrument cable. GREAT pu!

If there ever was a necessity to use a feedback buster, do the soundhole controls make that impossible, or are they indented enough so the FBBuster would fit?

Very nice, I have a ten year old system. How much are these new ones?

Great review! Really well thought out. It sounds pretty good, I'm impressed. I use the Baggs Dual Source mic and pre-amp in all my guitars, though I use a different undersaddle because I don't like the Baggs undersaddle. I wonder if I could isolate this new mic the same way. Intriguing.

In the comparison I think that the Anthem picked up the lows a lot better than the mic. It gave the guitar a more rounded/full sound, which I liked. This is definitely a future purchase.

What about percussion? Does it pick up the tapping sounds if you were playing Drifting by Andy Mckee or Phunkdified by Justin King? Please respond, I will pick one up ASAP. Been having a problem for YEARS!

@astronorm111 Around $300 (at shoreline)... There are many cheaper ones too, but this one looks like sounding darn good!

I disagree that this sounds worse than the external mic. Listen to the Anthem's definition and note clarity on all six strings. The external mic makes the low end sound like mush. Definitely looking into purchasing one of these.

I might as well get this instead of the Trinity or Dual Source Element.

Look into K&K Sounds pickups. It's what a handful of the CandyRat artists use.

I wonder how it compares to my Fishman Pocket Blender. I've yet to hear something I like more than the Fishman.

This sounds close the the L.R. iMix System. I must say the Anthem sounds better in the video because it sounds more dynamic. External mic is picking up room noise giving to much "air". The iMIX is the Element and the iBeam dual with a mini L.R. Baggs D.I housed inside, giving true acoustic tone. Why did they come out with the Anthem? Its the same concept.

@MidouBanChan It looks like a Larrivée L05.

I don't think the sound was that great for either the external or the Baggs starting around 5:00 during the comparison. Chords sounded okay but the individual picking sounded thin. I've heard much better. Would have been good to do a 3-way comparison showing just the piezo (if I understood that description correctly). Nice technique by the artist. Is the placement pretty much mandatory or have people experimented with different locations?

Nice, but still can't match an external mic. I prefer the DPA 4900.
