These are technically not 6000's. These rotors were part of Nelson's retail line of products called "RainGear". They did have a retail version of the 6000 that had the same body cap and rubber cover, that included the yellow nozzle rack. That was the 6000R. I am not sure if they made them before they discontinued the RainGear style rotors though. The 6000R may have replaced it.

Signature also makes a pop-up impact sprinkler, which is called the 6700 Pro impact sprinkler, but it's not really special, It's just a another knock off of the Rain Bird Maxi Paw.

Yup, and they also sell a "Beta" riser-mounted impact (model 1370) that is exactly the same as a Rain Bird 2045-PJ Maxi-Bird. I have never been able to find any definitive evidence of it, but I suspect that companies like Signature must have some sort of contractual agreement with Rain Bird to have them manufacture impact sprinklers with the company's branding in order to fill that void in their product line. It's probably cheaper to do that nowadays instead of the company having their own molding equipment to manufacture a different design with those types of products, likely due to a lot lower yearly sales yield that doesn't justify the expense of maintaining the equipment needed to make them.

L.R Nelson was bought by Signature in 2008. Because the manuals of these things are so bad and confusing, does this rotor have arc fast forwarding and a non strippable gear drive?

Aha, thanks! I thought it was either 2008 or 2009 that they were bought by Signature though I wasn't sure. This one doesn't have the arc fast-fowarding feature but it does have the ratcheting slip clutch to protect the drive. It's the same as the older Nelson 6000s where they have that "hard-clicking" ratcheting feel to them while manually rotating the turret, but it supposedly won't strip out like the old 6000 would.

dont think i've ever seen nelson's gear rotors....... this would be a first time. I usually just see the plastic popup casing with a beta 2 or alpha 2 head in them. I havent seen any Beta 2's in a long time. Except from 30HGuy's videos.
