Late Lee Xiang Lan , a prominent singer of the 50s rose to eminent popularity. Her voice was so perfect that hitherto , difficult to get a replacement. There are three significances to glorify her voice : 1)Every word was distinctly heard. 2) She could draw up v high key notes without difficulty. 3) Every sentence was sung with passion & feeling. With respect to this honourable singer .Fr Malaysia. Terima Kasih. (TQ... Sieh..Sieh).

this song reminds me of mom .... she would just hum the tune when she saw or feels we were listening ... but she told us that during her time, she would sing in small opera houses and sometimes invited to radio station ... maybe my hobby on audio was from mom... sadly mom passed away Jan 1 2022 and i miss mom sooooo much!

The singer was a Japanese born in Manchuria, China in the 1920, whose father moved to live in China because of his love for Chinses culture. Japanese and Chinese were both her mother tongue. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, she was depicted by the Japanese Army and the Manchuria proxy state as a Chinese girl who loved and collaborated with Japanese. She was forced to act in many movies and sing many songs that boasted Sino-Japanese friendship and peace. After the war was over, Nationalist Party Government accused her of Betrayal and Collaboration with Japanese, and wanted to sentence her to death. However, she provided evidence to show that she actully was a Japanese and was forced by the Japanese Army and governement. Then she was released and went back to Japan. This is a legend in history.

Otaka sensei, her husband, was a Japanese diplomat working as Ambassador in Sri Lanka around 1992. We met in Sri Lanka, and later He invited me for coffee in Tokyo where we had a long chat on Ayurveda. Otaka sensei told me about his wife, but I did not realize who she was. I was just 30 of age and had no clue about this famous singer. 20 years later I saw a documentary on Rikoran and then only realized who she was. Her husband had invited me to his home once in 1995, but I declined as I was too busy. Stupid me! I could have met her while she was still alive. Unfortunately she passed away 5 years ago. Greetings from Manfred, Germany. This is a true story.
The bottom line is nobody has ever sung this song with such pitches and attraction, and nostalgia that brings tears to the eyes. Her nationality really does not matter at all. As much as she has been close to millions of Chinese people she must be more popular in Japan!

she was perhaps the best of her age and the years following but Japan's war role might have impacted her popularity. Hopefully, we are more fair-minded to give her credit long due !

I really like her. They may call me names but I also love China. Japan and China must learn to get along. They belong to the same cultural roots and the West would be pleased to see them destroy each other!
@david1234lee8 жыл бұрын
When Japan and China are hostile to each other, they are falling into the western trap and they would both be controlled by the west, esp USA. Some ignorant Chinese blame Japan for invasions; blame our own corrupt rules, corrupt systems and social structure. If we do the latter, every nation is our friend. If we don't, they would all come to colonize us.
@bobbyteng84208 жыл бұрын
+david lee You are right. The British and freaking USA are biggest shits stirrers in the world. They created the United Nation after the Second World War to control the world. The United Nation is only a puppet. Every wars they involved in, they were killing the innocent civilians. They can't even differentiate between their own soldiers and enemies. That why they are tormenting the minorities Americans in the army to death. If you don't look like them, then you are the enemy. Why these Asian, Latino and African Americans want to joined the army is beyond my understanding.
She was beautiful and her voice training perfected her natural talent. She was just a young girl and a very sweet young woman. How can she know that was how history turned out.?? If there was an equivalent Chinese in Japan then, do we also sentenced her to be a Chinese spy? Of course not. Art is art, it is beautiful. Her voice is beautiful. Politics is not. It is ugly and always will be. RIP my sweetest artist.

The song is NOT to "praise how beautiful the cordate telosma flower is". Both the author and the singer are descendants of indigenous of "Xi Yuan (Westen Origin in Chinese)". The song was for them to praise their ancestors (one of the ancestors is the author of "I Ching"). This is the English version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h322Y6GdmZyNh5Y

LHLan'slife was not without intrigue and political conflict due to her Japanese birthright. Though she would have wanted to continue to be loved by Shanghai and all Chinese radio, she too wanted to be recognised by Tokyo for she ''existed in both spheres. As the Sino-Japanese war deepened with massacre and murder, LHL was broken in spirit with accusations of spying possibly by both sides. Many Historians have given her merit for being more Chinese in her music, but her Japanese birth could have been her nemensis. The fact that her death was in China may be her final evidence of her patriotism. RIP Miss Li Hsiang Lan, your music will be immortal.

I like both. But I do prefer Li Xiang Lan's technique and her operatic use of her voice is so amazing and admirable. Zhou Xuan has the sweetest voice of all. Even though her technique is so different but she is so suitable for singing all her ballards. They are both amazing. But me too since I study music, tend to prefer Li Xiang Lan for her voice range execution. Miss her so much. An amazing lady indeed. So beautiful and outside.
