As a white Policeman I had Mr Nkomos house in Pelindaba under my Security watch. We were always respectful towards each other and was in fact friends with some of his Family and top men. We witnessed the rage between Zanu and Zapu during the Entumbane time and realised then that had Zipra (Or ZAPU) and Smiths Government joined forces we would have had a different Zimbabwe today. A pity Mr Nkoma chose to support Mugabe as it was only a question if time before old tribal hatreds would emerge and the shona would use their power to take down the Ndebele and any opposition. Mugabes election was won only on a numbers game, thats all, 80% Shona and 20% Ndebele. Doesnt take a genius to have seen that from the begining. A united Government under Nkomo, Muzorewa and Smith would and could have build a Fantastic country for us all. RIP Mr Nkomo, just a pity you couldnt see the Trees for the forest at the time. Zanla forces were absoluitly no match at all against the Rhodesian army (80% Blacks) and the Zipra forces.

I generally hate to be misunderstood and for that reason i have many people electing to keep quiet. But i cant keep my views and thoughts inside me. Mozambique gained independence and the normal trick colonialist did to newly independent black government was to destabilise. So Renamo was created by apartheid SA and racist Rhodesia. They colonialist did the same thing when Angola gained independence, Unita was heavily supported by USA and Europe under the guise of fighting for democracy! At our independence with hostilities lingering above Nationalist leaders should have been sensitive to the political enviroment at the time. Nkomo made a big mistake and this raised suspicions. Firstly the arm cache and secondly his fratenising with white racists under the argument that the war is over. Thirdly he refused The Ceremonial Presidency heightening suspicions. Finally he held secret meetings with Smith plotting against Mugabe and Zanu PF , Muzorewa, Sithole , Smith planned to gang up against Zanu PF! Yet zapu and zanu were the PF. This concortion led to the unfortunate and tragic results of that era. Let the truth be told!

Well, even then the 80% Shona/20% Ndebele ratio would have remained a fact. How do you exclude 80% of the population from the franchise?
