The fact that it took you nearly 5 minutes in perfect conditions (on a bench with all the right tools, etc) is pretty dang impressive for a mailbox lock! Thanks for the info, good video.

With practice, you could easily get these in 2 minutes or less blind. Considering this was my 3rd or 4th open on the lock and it took me much longer on camera (camera always seems to add a lot of time on, maybe it's because I'm busy talking). But yeah, I'd like to have a mailbox lock like this.

Quickly picked and thanks for explanation of feedback and most comfortable tools used. Make it look EZ 👌 haha I pulled that dang spring shield off of mine, indeed was a pain. Once I get a slider pick shaped up, I’ll have at it. I was struggling on the non-nub tapered feeling side with a few max lifts. Thanks for sharing!

Slider pick is a great pick to make for your arsenal, comes in handy for jiggle testing unsprung elements all the time!

Nice demonstration of how to pick these kinds of locks. A bit of false advertising making the consumer believe that there are twelve working wafers when there is only ten, a bit of a marketing edge I think they were going for, cheers
@norlin763 жыл бұрын
Yah, it is very weird they include those extra two wafers at all, they're already spending the money to put them in, why not make them functional or just leave them out and save manufacturing costs?
@epochdesign48392 жыл бұрын
@@norlin76 The first two wafers are hardened steel to prevent drilling.

Lol this is hilarious when I watched this I find one in the back of the cabinet while i was cleaning around complete with key (it also has the 2 inactive wafers In the front!) Picked it fast aswell ~2 min pick

Yah, no idea why they're allowed to advertise as 12

@@norlin76 true. Too bad when I go and do some cleaning again it will be impossible to find a that Ingersoll in the back haha

Thanks, hopefully it'll help people decide if they want to give the lock a go themselves :)

Nicely done! I’ve gone one of these that I lost the key for. Can I drill it? I don’t have your skill set to pick it 😅 any tips for drilling this style lock?
@norlin76 Жыл бұрын
Pretty much any lock can be drilled. Unfortunately that's not my area of expertise so I cannot offer much advise. Best of luck!
