After Monkey Gum in Yalwal we had to test our vans going on a harder track. This track, just north of the Wheeny Creek camping area on Comleroy Rd (N of Kurrajong, NW of Windsor, Sydney, Australia) was certainly even more challenging again!
You will see plenty of action on this episode. I always thought the track would go DOWN as it starts quite high. But it actually goes UP, to a lookout.
Which means we also have to go down which can be a bit scary sometimes in a van. Especially when it is off camber and steep!

Yeah, that last hill is a bit of a challenge, ae? Great to see you push the van to it's limits

Hello again from San Diego , another great vid! Been following you awhile. God how I wish we could get those diesel Mitsubishi vans here in the states closest we have are sportsmobile full size Ford vans with a huge 6.0 or 7.3 diesel or V10 with like 4 tire revolutions to the gallon 😂💦 Ok maybe 8mpg on a good day! Do the mitsu come from factory with a lot of camping equipment or is it most custom work?? If you don't mind me asking how much do they cost straight out of factory?? I LOVE THEM

DiegoDad Glad you enjoy the videos. More coming soon! Just a detail: both vans in this video are pwered by petrol engines (or 'gas' as you call it in the US 😉). Our mileage isn't great but probably better than 8 mpg. Usually around 8 km per litre of unleaded petrol (91 or 94 when E10 blend with ethanol). The L300 came in short and long wheel bases with low and high roofs. All camper fit outs are home made custom jobs as far as I know. Mitsubishi stopped manufacturing the 4x4 versions around 2000 while the last import in Australia sold in 1998 for about AU $40,000 I am told. Your neighbours in Canada do import quite a few of them straight from Japan. Most of them are the more luxurious models known as Delica and Starwagon. Most L300 Delica are powered by the 2.5 litre turbo diesel engine with an automatic gearbox. We drive around in the more spartan version with the 2.4 l petrol engine (16 valves, efi, 145 hp) and manual gearbox. Works fine for me but it could use reduction gears for the rock hopping bits. Maybe one day...

Martin VanMan oh really my mistake, they do come either diesel option though right? I'd prefer them for the torque and reliability. As I stated all we have close is the fords which suck on petrol 😉 or diesel lol

DiegoDad Yep, 2.5 litre diesel or usually 2.4 litre petrol for you to choose.

You can import these vans into the US from Japan, usually with low miles and in great shape! I know it's trickier to get them into Cali though, with all their extra emissions regs.

I like the clean look of the smaller mirrors. Most delica L300's have huge obnoxious mirrors and I own one. Do you know what kind of mirrors the vans have in this video? Cheers

+Mike Sidic Those mirrors came of a Mitsubishi WA van. also known as a walk-through van. Another good point is that they have curved mirror glass, so less of a blind spot. Bolt straight on the L300 Express vans.

+Martin VanMan Thanks, I find lots of them for sale in Australia. Trying to source them in Canada where I'm from looks to be harder. At least I know now what to look for. Cheers.
