Thank you to our alpha patron Cora for this opportunity to run through this album. It's a special one. "Something"s On The Move" is now a favorite track of mine from Tull, period. "Dun Ringill" called out to my ancestors inside me... I love when Tull does that :)

I really enjoy on "Stormwatch" how Ian uses his flute to give the feel of the icy cold northern winds.

I eally love this album, I think it is quite under-rated. Glad you're enjoying it, Lee. Thanks as always for the reactions. ah, my fave Tull is probably 'A Passion Play' but I love most of them, I'd even say that their run of albums from 'Stand Up' to 'Stormwatch' is one of the best ten year spans of material ever produced in rock music. I don't love 'Too Old too Rock and Roll ...' but they really bounced back with 'Songs From the Wood', so that run of albums is very tough to beat, remarkably consistent quality level and creativity.

Something's on the Move is the track of the album for me. Love Martin's grungy burst guitar and Ian's flute. Then the organ kicks in and turbocharges the song. Just brilliant.

@@stephenbrown7545 For some reason, I don't notice the drums in most Tull songs, unless it's Minstrel in the Gallery or Hunting Girl where they are so obvious. Maybe they mix down the drums in a lot of Tull songs. I definitely hear the drums A LOT more when Gavin Harrison drums for Porcupine Tree.

The deluxe expanded version of this album remixed by Steven Wilson is incredible. Its one of my favourite Tulls albums and is the 3rd of the Folk Trilogy Songs + Heavy + Stormwatch :)

This is the Wilson remix! But not the most recent one, I think. It was the remaster from 2004 I believe. But in the copyright claim it says Wilson 2021 mix so idk. But I love it. This album has been a ride. And I’ve heard so much tull at this point that I can actually have a somewhat constructive conversation lol I still like TAAB and crest of a knave the best but this might be 4-5th behind passion and minstrel

Such a fantastic album. Music and album cover wise for sure. Love the polar bear on the back cover. This is got to be my top Tull LPs and tours. And….. at my ripe age of 65, I have just received my Stormwatch tee shirt replacement from the one I had on the live Stormwatch tour. Ahh, ha , and the weatherman said something’s on the move. My favourite Tull album is [Error: Does not compute]. It has been Aqualung, TaaB, Minstrel (probably for the longest time), Songs 'n' Heavy (treated as a double), Bursting Out, and Broadsword. Stormwatch has been close at times but never at the top; and I love listening to the Christmas album but only in the appropriate season. Currently I'm leaning towards Songs 'n' Heavy, and enjoying A Passion Play more than TaaB. Also, I approve of you making artistic statements. 😛

For me, the best three consecutive songs on the album. Something's On The Move is easily the one from Stormwatch that I've played the most in the last 45 years. Great energy, catchy tune. It was most likely to be a single -- but, of course, wasn't. Orion is my other favorite song on there.

I would say they've been hit or miss on that over the years but, in my opinion, the misses were total whiffs. At any rate, Lee, it warms my heart to see youngins like you taking such a liking to Tull. They were an incredible band that somehow got pushed to the side by most people. I hope you do the Stand Up and Benefit albums soon (bonus track editions, please).

The 5 most underrated guitarists are Zappa, Martin Barre, Joe Perry, Don Felder and Dave Hlubek. The most ignored guitar is Frank Marino, who I put at the top alongside SRV. Been diggin' your vids lately. Keep it up?

I grew up in the 60’s / 70’s and every guitarist you mentioned were all considered of the best in their day… not underrated. Maybe under appreciated or underplayed 50 years on. But by no means underrated 😊

Assignment: What’s your favorite Jethro Tull album? Answer: Thick As a Brick, but now I have to wonder if that’s just nostalgia talking? I need to go back and listen to these each all at once, because my favorite might change…. Thanks Lee & Cora

B- must do better next time ;) - seriously you can't go wrong as there is no wrong answer - it is all personal (I rate Broadsword for my nostalgia) but I have a rotating top 5 usually including what I've just listened to that I've just been reminded how good it is.

Just shows how different we all are, Benefit is low on my list of Tull albums along with Stand Up, This Was, Roots to Branches and Rock Island. Don't get me wrong all Tull is good. But I struggle to put Benefit anywhere near my favourites list. But hey thats why we are all different and there is room for everyone. I suspect there is an element of nostalgia tied to your love for the album which elevates it in your list along with associated memories and feelings. ;) In the same way I have a great love of Broadsword, loving the cover and seeing lots of the shows on the tour.
