Another winner from our alpha patron Joel. Wow. That was incredible. The guitar AND the drums were fantastic here. And the bass! The whole damn band. I've never heard of these guys and they just knocked my f'in socks off. Thank you Joel.... wow.

Fun reaction. And I love all of it and how well it all works together, but I have to say at least lately when I listen to it including right now, I think it's the bass guitar line that ultimately affects me the most over the long haul. It's just stupid in its range from simple driving support, to throwing in all kinds of difficult busy stuff, but it's in service to making it kick, and adding some funk at a really high tempo, and making people want to dance. And his tone is so well matched for this mix.

Allmans led the way for the next group - Outlaws, Skynard, Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels & Wet Willie. What I love about the Outlaws is Hughie plays the Strat while most of these bands were wearing Les Pauls. And all were amazing bands but no one could ever match the Allmans talent & what they did on the Live at Filmore East album. if you ever react to that, avoid the youtube vids and go right to the vinyl.

Every great Southern Rock band needs a Guitar Opus, and this is the one for Outlaws. Saw the "Florida Guitar Army" twice, and of course, they closed the show with this number both times. And stretched it out to about 15-18 minutes, which was great. Three Guitars and the Bass player all standing at the front of the stage, just wailing away, amazing and fun.

Great choice L33. Nothing like a run with what they like to call their "Guitar Army". Their live album ("Bring 'Em Back Alive") came out not long after the Lynyrd Skynyrd airplane tragedy, and they dedicated this song to them at the start of it. Also on the inside of the 2 LP album cover there is a confederate flag in the upper left corner with a Skynyrd dedication printed on it. The live version is a bit longer. Give it a listen someday my friend. Peace out!

People tend to overlook the beautifull vocal harmonies of the Florida Guitar Army. Its maybe not that evivident here, but it is on many of their other great songs with Henry Paul singing. Here, that is Billy Jones' Les Paul in one ear and Hughie Thomasson's Strat in your other ear. Lol they tend to draw you in huh? But this was a COMPLETE band of excellent musicians. I always feel the need to point that out to newcomers. Check out their catalog, at least the first 3 albums.
