Thank you to our patron Scott for another winner... I address the last two tracks of "Secret Treaties" in this video as well... since that video was apart of the Friday Fiasco of 2024. Sadly, it is lost forever and I cannot re-watch it and give you a fake reaction so... here we are! (Btw Astronomy!!!! WHAT!!!!)
This was a great track. You can hear the 80's influence in it and it SOUNDS SO GOOD. That riff from Buck is just the thing of legends. What a fuckin' chorus!!

The first eight lines of this song all contain the word "home," which makes up the first verse: Home in the valley Home in the city Home isn't pretty Ain't no home for me Home in the darkness Home on the highway Home isn't my way Home will never be Later, the theme switches to "time," which appears in every line of the second verse: Time is the essence Time is the season Time ain't no reason Got no time to slow Time everlasting Time to play B-sides Time ain't on my side Time I'll never know These verses both build into a fiery chorus, where Dharma is "living for giving the devil his due." You can tell this song was written in part by a rock writer from the line, "Time to play B-sides," which back in the days of 45 RPM vinyl records were the tracks that came on the flip sides of the hits. These were often junk, but sometimes gems. Music writers loved looking for these. Blue Öyster Cult was one of the few American rock bands that was making videos when MTV launched in 1981. The single was released in July that year, and when MTV went on the air on August 1, they were happy to put it in rotation since they wanted to push a rock format but had little to choose from. Thanks to exposure on the network, the song rose up the charts, reaching #40 in October.

This brings back so many memories from junior high and high school. I saw them a couple times but I also saw them on this tour and it was so good, and the sound was incredible and they were actually really known for their Cutting Edge laser light shows at the time. Pink Floyd broke the mold a decade or more before, but BOC was really cool in that respect as well as just a great band.

Growing up in Queens New York City this band Blue Oyster Cult had a bunch of the original members that hung out and partied in Glen oaks which was a town literally a mile away from where I lived they would always give a shout out to Glen oaks 249th street during their concerts as they hung out and grew up with the same crowd of peeps.❤

@@L33Reacts You know Lee, although I was looking forward to your wrap up video on Secret Treaties, I am a little disappointed with the studio cut (to which I usually defer for reactions) for Astronomy due to the lack of a jam. Yes, it's still a great tune, but I saw it many times in concert (saw BOC 16 times) and Astronomy was one of Buck's signature songs for melting faces. So, if you want to check them out live anyway, maybe consider Astronomy. It would serve well to see them in action and kind of close out Treaties, in a sense. Just a thought. Keep up the great work!!

This is one of my favorite songs by Blue Oyster Cult, who should already be in the Rock& Roll Hall of Fame, IMO, but they haven't even been nominated. Anyway, believe it or not, there is more than one terrific song on their Agents of Fortune album than Don't Fear the Reaper. Here is a list from that very popular album, L33, that will make any BOC fan happy, if you react to them. Some are pretty quirky, but my favorites (by just a hair) are the last two on the list. Have fun: "E.T.I. (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)" "The Revenge of Vera Gemini" "Sinful Love" "Tattoo Vampire" "Morning Final" "Tenderloin". ❤😉✌

Yeah, there's lots of ways other people have found to look at things. Then, there's yours! Adopting someone else's ideas as your own is tricky business--and the easy way out! Each person possesses a body of original experience--call it a "soul"--which is the state of Truth knowledge of that person. We live to have the experiences which our true natures elicit from the world through our natural actions. This body of experience, this soul, provides a navigable reference for the discarnate spirit, as well as impetus to further incarnation. The effort to improve oneself, to ennoble one's character, remains forever in one's soul, or repository of experience...awaiting progressive integration. Every life situation has the potential for ennoblement of the suffering character. Do everything; feel everything; know everything; be everything...eventually.
