This was very helpful for making this showerhead... really functional at all. I have the verso, and I can also tell you that there is another flow restrictor in the handheld wand itself, which consists of a white plastic ball valve that can only be adjusted open by popping the faceplate off.

I was almost certain this was the way to remove it and i even had cocked my hammer back with a screw driver up against the restrictor and was about to knock it out when i thought about the fact i just spent $115 on this shower head and i didnt want to mess it up so i should probably go confirm that this is indeed the way to remove it first lol. Thats how i happened upon your video! Thank you for making this video, it perfectly helped confirm my initial assessment. The water pressure is significantly better now. The way i see it is good water pressure and flow = fast, quick efficient showers while low water pressure/flow = slow, inefficient frustrating showers. Or in other words i think it makes more sense to take a quick quality shower than a long poor quality shower. Thanks again!

The idiot general contractor that I hired to redo my 2 bathrooms must have hired a shoemaker to install the shower heads. When I went to take a shower, the flow was rate was SO bad. I knew it was the restrictor so I called him back and the plumber supposedly removed the restrictor. Well he didn't. At that point, I looked for a KZbin Video on how to remove it on this shower head (the crescent wrench flats were not visible for where I could see. After watching your video, I was able to catch a glimpse of the flat on the swivel head. I've done most of my own work for many years but completely redoing 2 bathrooms was just too much for this 75 year old fart. You might want to identify that in your video. Thank you VERY much. George

My Mohen Magnetix was different. I had to pull the parts out with a pick as there was no piece to separate the shower head. Mine had another part below the plastic strainer - a check valve which I removed with a pick. My shower head flow increased significantly after removing these parts. Note - there is still a strainer inside the fitting that screws onto the shower pipe, I didn’t touch it.
The flow restrictor helps prevent water splashing back on me when I give shower 🚿 to my little ones with the curtain wide open. Now it's time to remove it since they are old enough to take showers themselves, of course with the plastic curtain shut. Splashing water will help rinse out shampoo and conditioner residues sticking do the bathtub walls and curtain.

I'm not the video creator, but what I did was buy one of those inexpensive semi-transparent plastic bins from CostCo (a 6-pack is around $16 or so), label it "SPARE PARTS", and put stuff like this in little zip-lock bags with a Post-it note explaining what it is, and in the bin it goes.

Is there a flow restrictor in the additional smaller showerhead in this set? We have poor flow in both of them.
@L35inColorado Жыл бұрын
If by the "smaller showerhead" you mean the hand-held wand part, I'm not aware of a flow restrictor in that component. There is a three-position lever near the main (overhead) showerhead, and if that lever is not "locked" into one of the three positions, it might cause an issue since that lever is controlling the valve which diverts water (to just the overhead mode, or just the handheld mode, or the mode that is a split between the two). Is that what you mean?
@ruthanne9018 Жыл бұрын
@@L35inColorado checked the small handheld when we removed the restrictor in the main large showerhead. Nothing in the handheld. Thank you for making this video. Worked like a charm. We are enjoying much better water flow!🥰

Why would you keep part of the flow restrictor still in it
@L35inColorado6 ай бұрын
If you have well water, sometimes little bits of sand-sized tiny rocks end up in your line, so you might decide to keep the larger "filter" part in to catch those sandy bits and prevent them from reaching the holes at the sprayer/showerhead, but remove the restrictor to allow for the increased flow. If you have city water, then typically you don't have to worry about the little rocky bits that sometimes occur in well water. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching : )

When I have the handheld and rainhead both on at my home, the rainhead drops in pressure. In my sister’s home, both have great pressure when both on. Is there something I missed?
@L35inColorado Жыл бұрын
If you still have poor water flow after removing the flow restrictor, then you might just have lower water pressure at your home than your sister's home. I hope that helps : )
@mccouljc Жыл бұрын
I've had this showerhead for several years now and it leaks from one head to the other. For example, if I have all the water diverted to the large head, it leaks out of the handheld, and vice versa. Is there a cartridge in it that can be changed? Also the off switch on the the handheld head barely stops any water anymore, the water pours out even when it's in the "off" position. Have you had any of these problems?
@L35inColorado Жыл бұрын
I haven't heard any issue with this showerhead, but what you're describing certainly sounds like a fault. I can say that in the past, Moen has been very helpful: if you call them, they will send the parts for free if you've previously registered the showerhead with them: 1-800-289-6636 Perhaps try that number and they might be able to help! Thanks for watching, and happy new year! : )

Thank you for the video. You say due to your water situation, you did not replace the gray part. What water situation are you referring to? Thank you!
@L35inColorado Жыл бұрын
Yes - we're in a rural area and so we're on a well; our water pressure is lower than the average home on a municipal system, but probably a little better than most other homes on wells. I hope that helps - thanks for watching! : )

Did you measure the new gpm?
@L35inColorado Жыл бұрын
No, I didn't measure the gpm before or after. I removed the flow restrictor on this showerhead as soon as I removed it from the box because we're on a well and tend to have lower water pressure in general. I can say that it performs very well in all three modes. Thanks for watching!
