Friendly Correction: You miscalculate your first alpha angle, you divided the lead by (2*pi*diameter) instead of (pi*diameter). You got 7.2' instead of 14.2'. And GREAT explanation...thank you for doing this!!

Sir, why we haven't used the formula for loosening the screw. ie. tan(phi- alpha) ? if we tighten the screw ,should it not make the weight go downwards?
@ashishpurohit9138
@ashishpurohit9138 4 жыл бұрын
No Dear Tushar, it is not related to direction of movement of load..it is decided by direction of motion of screw and direction of external weight..if you are lowering screw and compressing something means the load is opposite to the movement of screw. If still you have doubt...share your no or mail I will explain there

sir but why did u take P parallel to base ...to produce a moment/torque u r supposed to take the force(P) perpendicular to the axis of rotation...???
@ashishpurohit9138
@ashishpurohit9138 4 жыл бұрын
Yes the force will be perpendicular to the axis of rotation, that is also in a plane perpendicular to the axis or parallel to the base of the screw. If sill you have doubt, please share your mail ID, I will explain through some diagrams.

At 3:20 but seeing again you considered the distance of fillet thread movement as 2.pi.d and pi.d as side dimension of the triangle, did you?
@ashishpurohit9138
@ashishpurohit9138 5 жыл бұрын
I guess the movement of the screw is equal to pitch/lead, therefore it is the perpendicular of my unwrap thread, however if I will see the base of the triangle, it is the periphery of the cylindrical screw.
@ashishpurohit9138
@ashishpurohit9138 5 жыл бұрын
Actually this triangle is made by unwrapping a single thread, if you imagine a cotton thread used to wrap on a cylinder in helical way, the screw thread will form, now if you unwrap a single thread, the given triangle will be formed, hypotenuses of the triangle is the actual length of cotton thread, base of the triangle is the pi*d length and height of the triangle is the pitch/lead (distance between two consecutive thread). helical

The tension T2 in the wire will move the screw in the upward direction if the equilibrium is disturbed, but how do we decide which formula to use here?
@ashishpurohit9138
@ashishpurohit9138 3 жыл бұрын
@@aadityachaturvedi3937 in screw, we always decide formula based on the direction of load and direction of motion of screw. if both are opposite (which is the most common condition), we use positive sign formula (theta + phi) visa versa. here also both are opposite.
