Sir working in industry 1.) AVR is hardly 20 cm *20 cm pcb (not big in size) for 4 MW generator But as AVR is taking feedback from output voltage of main alternator we can't fix it on rotor 3.) Main exciter has high frequency ( using more number of poles) so that we can get smoother AC for main field without filters

Maybe there is a confusion in this lecture, from my knowledge split ring use to make DC output, and slip ring is use to make AC output. But in this lecture its reverse, kindly correct me if I am wrong.
@techinsight14182 жыл бұрын
Slip rings are of 2 types.... Split and complete..... Split - for dc output Complete - for ac Generally we call complete ring as slipring.... And broken ring as split ring... These are just conventional names... Concept is same.... Complete ring or slipring for ac.... And split ring for dc

Good Information. I have a question though. In a brushless excitation system, why cant the pilot exciter be eliminated and output of alternator connected to controlled rectifier which will in turn control the field winding of the main exciter?
@dee309sammansaha62 жыл бұрын
As we know that the avr is a very sensitive device we don't want any type of convenice. The ac we get from the armature viz dc through the scr is rotating dc and if we want to give the static dc to the field winding of the avr we still need brush and slip rings. So ultimately we can not remove the picture of slip ring so we don't use the excitation from the alternator. Thank you
@er.jogendargarhwal17956 ай бұрын
Because when we initially start the alternator we need some source of power. Same is needed after blackout Pilot excitor is of very smal capacity generally of size of pedestal bearing so it gives us self sufficiency for starting the system
@er.jogendargarhwal17956 ай бұрын
@@dee309sammansaha6AVR don't have field winding Mr it is a small PCB having PID and taking reference from output voltage of main alternator
