Nicely done/edited! I was 15 when I did the B2V, 1974 on a 73 Hodaka 125 Wombat. Half way with a DNF. Made it past Baker when the route crossed over I15, almost to 2nd gas pit at Cima Rd. Thanks for posting this gem. I really enjoyed it, start to finish.🏁

I enjoyed this. Thank you for taking the time to capture, edit and load your footage. Hopefully I can do this in 2022 on my 500.

This was my first time. I have heard about it for years and glad I was able to go. The weather was perfect. I did have to find a better glove for Saturday morning. It was cold in the morning at higher speeds getting to the trail.

Man I haven't seen a roll chart since I quit running enduros in the 80s. What a trip.

It worked fine on the easy tails, but almost impossible to see what things got a little rocky

Raced the B to V in 1973. Over 3000 entrants in that race. The next year I raced the Baker to Vegas with over 2000 entrants.

Awesome!!! Thanks for sharing!! Note to guy on 1st descent of the video. Feet on pegs, ass off the seat, and get your foot off the rear brake!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Downhills are nothing but straights. TILTED!!

That's right. The wheels have to be rolling a little to have control. It's hard to get off the brakes on a scary hill. But, it was great to have a couple of challenging spots. Glad you like the video.

I'd love to start a duel sport club in Oregon and have a weekend ride and camp up through the Molalla River off road park 😀 it has over 350 miles of trails and skid roads and lots of great views and animals to gaze upon 👍

Enjoyed, after watching glad I'm only doing Barstow to LV 2022, if I did the first leg Lancaster be to tired for the 2nd leg. Lancaster to Barstow looked black diamond hard in areas?
@SouthernOregonRiding
@SouthernOregonRiding 2 жыл бұрын
The Firday section from Lancaster to Barstow is a shorter day. We made it with plenty of sunlight left. It seems like Saturday had the black diamond trails and many more options. We really have to pick the ones we wanted. But yes, at the end of the second day, I was worn out. We stayed at a hotel in Vegas and sleep in late.

How can I get a map to this ride and do I need any permits ?
@SouthernOregonRiding
@SouthernOregonRiding Жыл бұрын
At the event we were given paper roll maps and GPS files downloaded on my Garmin, but I didn't keep any of them. No permits. The route followed BLM roads. You should try it. We had a great time.

What kind of fuel range do you need between the longest stretches?
@SouthernOregonRiding
@SouthernOregonRiding Жыл бұрын
It seems like they said 75 miles. The longest stretch was the lunch break Saturday and they had a gas truck there to top off the tanks. I can go about 120 miles, so I was able to just fill up in the morning and top off at lunch. It was fun. You should try it.

Well done brother. How difficult would you rate the LA to Barstow passage? Considering riding the first day this year
@SouthernOregonRiding
@SouthernOregonRiding 2 жыл бұрын
The first day is a great place to start. It was the shortest. No trouble to get in before sunset. Saterday is long enough that we have to select which section to ride. Overall, we picked the harder trails and we enjoyed the rocky climbs and one very steep descent. The easy sections are graded roads, but are still fun to ride.

@@go0ky486 That cool. I really enjoyed that section, but it was scarier that it looks on the Go Pro. The section where you were standing seems like it was five foot tall when looking up at thte bottom.

I did it on a KLR650 and not advised. Another guy had a second gen with much wider front and rear tires , stripped down to cut weight, and some extensive engine and suspension work done, and he told me it was still a tough MFer. I’m doing it this year on a 2023 excf 500 and I would recommend a 250-500cc bike.

You cut out Sandy Valley
@SouthernOregonRiding
@SouthernOregonRiding 3 жыл бұрын
I know. A lot happened out there, but my GoPro ran out of space. Since then, I have picked up a 256GB sim card. Just before Sandy Valley we stopped to help a rider with a flat. He got sideways on a sandy spot and ran into a small tree. At the same section a two-wheel drive side car had trouble and the passager rolled out. No one was hurt and would have been a good addition. What a fun ride!

Whenever I ride in groups, somebody's always late. Somebody's always 10 miles ahead of the pack. Somebody's always pissed at the slow guys. Somebody's always pissed at the fast guys. Somebody's always running out of gas. Somebody's bike always breaks down. Somebody's always broke. I'm there to get away from people. A riding partner is a good idea. Riding with 10 other people you need to worry about while riding a $18,000 bike that you have to worry about? That's just not fun for me. This group however, seems to have their poop in a group.

There was a narrow section with a rock ledge to climb over. This caused a short line, but everyone made it through fairly quickly. I really enjoyed this canyon section.
