The number of commentors complaining in this section just shows how little you know about Vaziev and his work or the russian ballet work ethic. Everyone is complaining about the noise but no one bat an eye when he corrected Nina and touched her cheek. 4:49

I just watched ROH's rehearsal, and Bolshoi's tension is no joke! Too bad i dont understand Russian, im so sure he gave the dancers lots of valuable instruction--because the end result is their line that looks as if they were drawn straight by ruler. It was such an amazing, aesthetic unity! And did he know each dancer's name? Thats amazing. The dancers are amazing too, this is beyond discipline--their passion for dancing shone through!

The problem with not speaking the language is that you don't know WHAT he is saying. The fact remains that they have the most perfect Shades. Saw them last year in Cineworld. Pathe does a Bolshoi Season with one ballet per month (or they did pre-virus). They were fabulous in this ballet - Only problem is, it spoils you for watching live ballet in our local theatre. This is ballet as it should be.

if a ballerina does what she wants without a teacher telling her her mistakes to do better they would not get anywhere

Royal Ballet, please take note. Notice how much more impressive the Shades scene looks with the full complement of thirty-two shades instead of your paltry twenty four.

So go there and do better teaching the Royal Ballet how they can improve on it because I guess you should have a lot of knowledge!

Eduarda Sartorio I know right? Of course the Russians are insane, but the RB are gorgeous as well. There’s no need for people to be so negative.

Bolshoi has 240 dancers in the company, Royal Ballet about half as many, if I‘m not mistaken..

What a bully . A Direktor shouting only shows his lack of talent to guide people and... as an artist

Shows how little you know about Vaziev, his Mariinsky tenure, the number of great dancers he spotted and opportunities he gave or at least know how they work in russia. Go back to bed and shut up.

Jardin azul it was not that bad. He shouted, but he didn‘t really bully them, he just yelled the steps and things like attention, stand still, arms, head, stay in line, etc. Watch English National Ballet and Sir Derek Deane- that is bullying, when he calls the girls elephants and turtles and absolutely dreadful etc.

Calm down everyone! He's not insulting them and they aren't taking offense! It's incredibly hard work for both director and dancers to reach the level of dance at the Bolshoy.

OMG the Russian ballet is super intense. I just finished watching the Royal Ballet's rehearsal and then moved to this one. I think the Russian rehearsal is very strict and precise. Wondering how they could nurture the artistic side of ballet out of this very spartan approach.

That "bloke" is Makhar Vaziev, a much revered Russian ballet master and now Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Ballet.

We know who he is but he doesn't need to shout so brutally - he's worse than Grigorovich.
@avesraggiana6 жыл бұрын
Liza Mariinskaya Maybe if he didn’t shout like that the Bolshoi corps de ballet would look like ABT’s in this scene - arabesque legs rising at random times, or sequentially, but never in unison; arms drooping, backs askew and thighs wobbling - a complete mess. The only time that the ABT’s corps managed to look pretty decent in this scene was when another Russian took charge of the rehearsals, and shouted at the ABT corps in a similar way - that Russian was Natalia Makarova.
