→ I arrived in this city with expectations of finding something different and I got a reality check. Varadero is the privileged city of Cuba, but it is empty, everything is a fantasy with the aim of attracting tourists who, when they arrive, will find a series of surprises that we have shown in this series of videos 👇🏻
Total shortages, which should improve a little as the days go by... poor services in state hotels and restaurants that, despite the fact that the workers want to do things with quality, do not have the necessary supplies or conditions... Although the city is clean, the same apathy and discouragement that exists in the country, at a general level, is perceived. This video was originally made for the membership; it is the last of a series that includes the main streets, rental house, nightlife, beach and, in addition, what life is like here, in the most privileged city in Cuba.
There are things that do not appear in the documentaries and promotional videos of Cuba, a real life that every Cuban has had to live and only we know about it. The shortcomings corrode our society at unsuspected levels, leading to corruption, crime, envy and other evils that have affected us for a long time. We want our children to be better than us; however, many times our families end up broken as a result of emigration to the USA and other countries. Our children risk their lives to have a better future. The rationing of products available for sale has made it more difficult to live in Cuba and just to be able to afford food in the markets and stores. Havana feels it as it is dependent on tourism but now there is no tourism and almost no trips to Cuba. The other provinces feel it even more. The socioeconomic class difference is accentuated and those who do not receive remittances from abroad have a harder time making ends meet.
