At least 27 floors of the deserted three-building project were covered with various multi-color tags. In a tweet sent on Jan.31, the Los Angeles Police Department stated it has teamed up with the district representatives to develop a plan to secure the property. Jeff Nguyen reports.

Cant this high rise be turned into affordable housing? Better yet a mix of affordable housing, low income housing, and housing for those who have come in off the streets?
@terryhenderson424
@terryhenderson424 7 ай бұрын
@@BettyBlack99 The demographics of the homeless are quite diverse. The most visible homeless tend to have both substance use/ abuse and mental health issues. If you were to turn the building into a mixed income building which included homeless or formerly homeless in permemant housing, there would still be a large enough applicant pool fro which to be choosey. I wasn't thinking in terms of shelter beds nor even particularly traditional housing. And yes, we definitely need rehab beds. But more than a mere 10, 20, 30, or even 90 day spot. We need 12 to 36 months of post de-tox, residential rehab slots available; or at least sliding scale, sober living residences with at least some level of case management available. Most likely we need a mix of models including some housing first slots.

dudes are bored stiff that are tagging, they need to dig deep down inside themselves and direct their art into something that can be sold online for instance...they just don't have a vision, a map on how to go about it...a retraining, reeducation method needs to be applied to these dudes...it must be so frustrating living in downtown... as a 12 yrs old i would ride my bike miles away to explore in Jefferson area so glad we only spent 6 years in the that zip code. lucky to have fine neighbors , then went south to OC where i had more breathing room...

These are Vandals, although granted in fairness, graffiti colorful art can be sometimes interesting, open to interpretation, however, it’s straight up vandalism. It should be noted, unless you forgot that real talented artist that put their heart into developing their skills and paint these beautiful murals depicting people scenes, often get vandalized by these very graffiti artist. Then people like celebrate them, this is not courage. This is cowardly, ruction and oppression, and an attempt to bring down progress. This affects an oppressive communities because it creates BLIGHT. It’s a chain of events of several problems that the city has created for itself, and the attempts of saying they’re actually progressing. You didn’t see this when the financial district was developed, you saw buildings funded, created and completed and still stand beautiful today. Yes, the problem is the developer, and what appears to be special deals Made with city mayors and leaders before and currently, but it also shows the vandalism problem that we have in Los Angeles that is making the city grotesque.

The guy at the end complains that thousands of vacant rooms could be used to house the homeless. But what rooms? They're just floor after floor of empty concrete that'll take a billion dollars to complete. And even if it is somehow completed, who in their right mind would want homeless drug addicts and mentally ill living in their newly built multi-billion dollar skyscrapers? They'll trash the place and set it on fire.

Apparently the sensors don’t like that I pointed out the anti-high-rise, anti-financial district anti-downtown LA this comment is. How anti-capitalist.. But those same vandals and I repeat it, they say vandals they are not s, and from someone coming from someone who went to a fine arts, college, that’s what they really are vandalize, poor communities, and oppress them in the process. Graffiti vandalism is a form of oppression and self oppression. Self oppression from members of the same community, and oppression from outside silver spoon, little so-called tigers, coming into these communities into downtown to deface. Working poor, still living downtown Los Angeles. It’s all not just rich people effluent gentrifiers.
