LA County Trash Documentary Circa 1990.

Here is a video I found recently that I decided I should post for everyone to see. I believe this video was from a news report aired sometime in the 90's. It features some really cool pieces of equipment that I think many of you will find quite interesting. As with most of these videos, they were published on VHS, so the quality leaves a lot to be desired. However, in my opinion, the grainy quality adds to the nostalgia. Anyway, let me know what you think of the video.

No. There was a deposit and it was possible to recycle paper, aluminum and glass, but you had to haul it to a special facility. Curbside pickup didn't arrive until the late 90s.

The only recycling I remembered back in the '90s was recycling phone books. The homeless used to go around collecting aluminum cans for money.

The international Rapid Rail on the lime green American carts is super neat! SO is the White GMC (?) Amrep (?) MSL from Glendale. Cool to see the older manual bins as well. Thanks for posting this!

Before White-GMC it was WHITE motor company! The WX stands for “White Xpeditor.” It was the favorite chassis of many haulers and municipalities in SoCal for decades
