When I went to Palm Springs for Spring Break with my friends, between '86 to '88, this song and so many other great music was played loud and clear in someone's car or at one of the local clubs! The 80s had the best music. That was such a fun time! 😁💖

The year was 1986, my friend and I were a couple of hours into an acid trip while cruising around in his 1978 Cutlass Supreme. He had a high-powered stereo and this song was jamming. During the whole song, as we drove down some curvy, BF, rural, country back road, I hallucinated Snake Puppy standing on the hood of the car, in a diminished form of about 2-foot tall, wearing a full-length mink coat with a matching derby hat, dancing to the song as I watched him through the windshield. I will never forget it.

This was a great song when it came out, totally different from anything else out there at the time. I remember buying the tape (the single, don't know if they ever made a full album) at the swap meet. I'd completely forgotten about the song, but I'm watching Beverly Hills Cop II and there's a scene where Eddie Murphy holds a bad guy at gun point (claiming he's from the Rap Coalition of America) and makes hip rap "Yo baby, yo baby YO", and it brought back the memory. Had to listen to it.

I grew up on hip hop, old enough, I was on it when it first dropped back then, I'd add that you're also hearing the most prolific and prophetic form of poetry nowadays. There's an extra large contingent of pure trash to be sure, but there are also some new classic philosophers like Black Thought, or Aceyalone, or whoever's vision you can relate to best for your own experiences and direction in life.
